Early summer looming, dampish warm day + first task was to pick elderflower before the rain hit - successful! Ruby proceeded to prepare the beginnings of elderflower cordial this afternoon, whilst I rooted in the loft for a brewers bucket - no luck. Although, found a big plastic tub which was suitable for our delicate elder heads to steep overnight in. The tub, however, was full, brimming with family pictures, right back from the 40’s probably. Slipped neatly into an envelope marked ‘L*z’ were a couple of paper articles about my great uncle, Evatt Bullock, nicknamed L*z.
For new and recent followers, who often ask, why ‘Evatt Bullock’? Evatt was my great uncle, a chap who I knew as a quietly confident magician + keen fisherman, private at heart yet bursting full of experience, knowledge and stories. My parents named me after L*z; Evatt, a family name that got passed down, never really understood, but I love it.
Evatt, pictured here, in the browned paper I found in the loft earlier, was part of the household cavalry, he spent a whopping 12 years as Queen’s guard in Knightsbridge. One of his proudest moments, leading President de Gaulle on his official visit to the UK in the 60’s, also pictured.
This is Evatt, the name inspiring ours today, unique, beautiful + quietly consistent. Today, run by my amazing team, Ricky + Alix, of which you can contact for special services on - [email protected]
