The DODEcahedron.
It’s that Circle of Life thing again!
When our daughter was a tiny baby, she didn’t have much to do but eat, sleep, and lie in her cot staring, often intently, at her mobile hanging above her head.
Well, in the blink of an eye, over half a century has passed and the tables are turned - now in my dotage, I find that I have little purposeful to do other than eat, sleep and stare at my new mobile, but as the saying goes - if you’re going to have one, have a big un!
What’s it all about? Well here’s another little story from some 30 years ago.
Back then, Dode attracted quite a few ‘odd’ people (still does, thank the gods), and one day a chap turned up with a dodecahedron, large enough to sit in.
So obviously we sat in it. And here’s the strange part - I was totally convinced that I was hollow, it was an experience that I have vividly remembered, so before I pop my clogs l wanted to try it again. (Don’t ask).
Anyhow, it seemed too good to leave just sitting on the ground so it’s creator, Jack from AxeWork Art, climbed a couple of trees with a rope in his mouth and there you have it - a mega mobile, swaying, rising and falling, in time with the breeze.
On a slightly more serious side:
Many, who love Dode, and other similar, sacred places, will know far more than I, but in sacred geometry the dodecahedron is one of the five Platonic solids.
The other four represent the elements, always referred to in the opening of our spiritual ceremonies, (Air in the East, Fire in the South, Water in the West and Earth in the North).
It represents what we simply refer to as ‘Spirit at the Centre’.
That Spirit has many names and just as many individual interpretations and inter-reactions which is, of course, perfectly matched to Dode’s philosophy.
Hanging above the pond, it is perfect for contemplation and meditation and it is hoped that people will take a little ‘quiet time’ there, surrounded, silently, by the healing ministrations of nature to reflect on this thing called ‘Life’.
Bright Blessings - Doug.
