For those of you who don’t know me you’ll probably notice from my posts that my appearance has changed dramatically. In the last two and a half years. I came down very suddenly with a rare auto immune disease and put on 3½ stone very quickly from a high dose of steroids. After a few months the steroids were finally reduced and after a year at Slimming World I’ve now lost more than 3 stone so am nearly back to looking how I was! It’s all been very strange but it’s still me!😊

This is my wonderful broom for the Jumping the Broom ritual that can come either at the end of a handfasting ceremony or a wedding ceremony. The broom tradition is said to have originated amongst Roma people in Wales, and it was also the wedding ceremony for some African American slaves.
Jumping the broom is said to symbolise a new beginning, whilst sweeping away the past. It is also said to signify two families becoming one. After completing their wedding promises the couple quite literally jump into their new life together, leaving any old uncertainties behind!

No question of it, my absolutely favourite symbolic ceremony is a Handfasting!
Whether it be a full blown pagan Handfasting ceremony or a simple handtying as part of a more traditional wedding ceremony, I love the beautiful act of tying the couples hands together whilst the traditional promises, both intimate and spiritual, are spoken❤️

Can’t believe it’s 9 years since I trained as a celebrant and I’vebeen so lucky to work with so many wonderful couples to help make their wedding special!
I’ve particularly loved doing creative ceremonies in fields, woods, gardens and barns.
A couple of years ago I suddenly lost my mobility but I got a fab off road wheelchair and last summer was my first season of being a celebrant on wheels!👩🏼‍🦼😀

OMG! My last ceremony of this year was with Ria & Dom, the most gorgeous couple who finally got to have their wedding after having had to postpone it. 
And absolutely wonderful it was, with a Chinese Double Happiness sign hanging from the Wedding Triangle, and a Unity Candle ceremony.  
What a joy it was to be their celebrant! And here’s what they said:
‘ Evelyn conducted a wonderful ceremony for our tipi wedding. It was very personal to us both, and that came across to all our guests- there wasn’t a dry eye in the house! 
During the preparation she provided some really good tips for writing our own promises to one another, which really helped us get going. 
The ceremony was everything we’d hoped for and we received some fantastic feedback from the guests, including that they absolutely loved ‘our story’ which was delivered by Evelyn before we spoke our promises. 
The ceremony couldn’t have been more special, and really set the tone for an absolutely fantastic day!

OMG! My last ceremony of this year was with Ria & Dom, the most gorgeous couple who finally got to have their wedding after having had to postpone it.
