So here we are, hottest days of the year, and fur animal costumes become a thing. Is it just us? In the past we've had two different schools want our (fur) camels for a July production, a squaddie who fancied a fur-based parrot in order to be a 'Parrot of the Caribbean' and now we've had someone choosing between Sylvester Cat and Scooby-Doo. Perhaps how hot they are is an ice-breaker at events.

August brings early requests for Goodwood Revival - a celebration of motor cars of the 40s,50s and 60s. First enquiry - 1940s Equestrian outfits. Odd request for a festival about the horseless carriage.

Taken on a few new readers and followers in recent weeks - thanks and welcome.
For new readers, this is not so much a day-to-day diary of costuming folk (usually) as an occasional outburst of observations and opinions on events with a costuming angle.
Early July takes on a Red White Blue hue as a couple of countries celebrate their national day (The England team are also involved elsewhere).
One of these countries hits the big 250, but unfortunately the event has been overshadowed by someone who wanted to put his own personal stamp/banknote/passport on the occasion. (he'd ignored the fact that in order to be on a banknote you had to be deceased).
