Open Mic at The Bullers

22/09/2026

Calling all Open Mic afficionados.
Apologies for the short notice, this months Open Mic night will be this Thursday the 24th September.
Unfortunately due to work commitments I will be unable to attend but the percussion genius that is Philip Billy Darlington (picture below in case you don't recognise him) will be your very able and eloquent host for the evening.
Bring your instruments, your poems, your jokes, your songs and most importantly, bring your good selves and some friends.
Looking forward to seeing you all from 8 o clock at The Bullers Arms, Looe.

Wow what a great open mic night that was. Thanks as always to everyone who turned out both to play and support, it is wonderful to see so many people getting involved and enjoying both the music and the inclusive community vibe.
A couple of special mentions this month. Great to see holidaymakers getting involved, so a big shout out to our young German visitors Johann and Anton who came up and did a a little turn for us before the 9 o clock watershed.
Its always nice to meet a new face, particularly one as talented and lovely as Jacob from Widegates/Callington/Gunnislake. We hope to see you again at the next one. And the one after, and the one after that etc. etc.😁
Sadly for us (but great for him) we are losing our rising superstar Traka to Uni in London so this was his last appearance for the foreseeable future. Don't forget us when you are a global sensation.
Lastly for those who are not aware the Looe Lugger Classics festival starts today and runs through until Sunday. There is Music on the West Looe Quay Stage throughout the weekend which is free on Friday and Saturday until 6pm and all day Sunday. There is a small charge for the Friday and Saturday evening entertainment, a fiver i think. A few of us open micers will be performing there over the weekend so look out for Bruce Moose today at 3:45pm. Paul McCoy will be performing with The Hucks at 2.15pm on Saturday and again with Andy Bear Joryeff, Billy Darlington and myself posing as the Shy Talks on Saturday Evening at 8:15pm. Traka will be performing on Sunday afternoon at 3:30pm. Please go and support and make some noise.
Enjoy the video clips from last night made on my ancient Samsung Galaxy A12 phone. Apologies to Carol i think i got clips of everyone except you so no Lute action this time around but ill do two for one next month.
Next OM is on Thursday 27th of August and we would be absolutely delighted to see you all again. Big love to everyone ❤️

Ok you open mic junkies we are going again next Thursday the 30th July. And as an added bonus we now have some aircon so it doesn't matter how hot it is outside we will all be totally cool. I mean that in a temperature kind of way, not in an actual cool kind of way. I feel that only Traka and Fin Inger can do actual cool. Oh and The Moose Bruce Hefford. He is the coolest of them all. 😁
Hope to see you all there, and just to whet your appetites we have a little video clip of Traka's gig at The Bullers Arms, from the 19th July

A massive thankyou to everyone who braved the heat and then the storm to come to last night's OM. We had a great turn out and some great performances, so I'm gonna name names.
Thanks to Steve Archer, Bruce Moose Hefford, New Steve, Paul McCoy, Billy D, Andy Joryeff, Tom Inger, Finn Inger and Charlie who made a last minute appearance before he returns to England.
Hopefully the video clips will upload this time, although don't hold your breath as my phone is as old and beat up as me 🙄 Next one is on the 30th July at around 8pm and we would love to see you all.

Hi everyone.
A little bit late but thanks to everyone that came out to both play and support us on 28th May. You are always most welcome and we could not do it without you.
Big OM shout out toSteven Archer who did all the heavy setup lifting cos my back is knackered.
No pics or videos this time cos I was all grumpy and in pain, but I promise I'll be better next month. 😁
Also a special mention to Traka who hotfooted it back from a gig in Plymouth to play us out.

Next Open Mic is only 3 weeks away on the 25th June which is only 3 days after Billy D's birthday. We will buy him a collective box beating birthday beer.

In 1996 Longpigs told us on their excellent debut album that the sun is often out.

Hopefully the sun might be out by next Open Mic 🙏
