Hybrid minds in Plymouth last night. Always worth the trip especially in this weather.
Hybrid Minds never misses — just pure, silky liquid drum and bass from start to finish. Hands down they’re fully at the forefront of the liquid dnb scene.

And the crowd… honestly, you only get that feeling with drum and bass. It’s like a family. Proper connection, everyone on the same wavelength, just there for the music and the moment.

Nights like that are special. If you know you know.

‘If today was the day’ - Liquid DnB - Female Vocals - Surf

Don’t worry, I wrote this in the days running up to a pretty perfect but punchy winter surf forecast.

I let in those quiet thoughts of what if.

Not in a heavy way.
Just honestly.
It’s healthy to do sometimes, makes life richer and more appreciative.

And the answer was simple…
I’m happy and feel blessed.

I’ve lived. I’ve felt things deeply. I’ve taken risks, done what I love, and I wouldn’t trade that for a safer, smaller life wrapped in cotton wool.

The sea and nature remind me of that.

Ironically that 6–8ft, 16 second interval, slight offshore session had its moment…

Trying to get into position and way into a section that was barrelling at my local break that rarely barrels.

Then she served up 3 giant outside set waves.

You know when you’re not in the right place and you just have to turn and paddle for the horizon… but I wasn’t going to make it.

First one rears up to dump on me — board goes to the side and I’m swimming straight for the bottom.

Up for air just in time to see the second one rearing.
Cheers.

Straight back down again.
Board tombstoning.

Up again into the third.
Same drill.
Lungs burning but settling.

Then ping — leash snaps.

Up into the white water.

One of those moments where you’re very aware of your place,
but also appreciative of keeping a degree of fitness and breath hold.

Ironically I remember thinking I’d probably jinxed it writing this track in the days leading up to that session.

But it was strangely a beautiful moment none the less.

Humbling.
Appreciative.
Gratitude. Perspective. Letting go a bit.

This actually started life as a full-power drum & bass banger — and that version’s dropping later this week.
But it’s Sunday. It’s chilled.

So here it is stripped right back to its acoustic core.
This song’s just about the frustration we all feel with people sometimes.
It’s a bit of a metaphor… but you get the idea.
I love people. I really do.
But every now and then, they can test you.
So before the full drum & bass version drops — loud, fast and unapologetic — I wanted to strip it back and share the acoustic side of it first.
Same message. Different energy.
The banger’s coming.
