A couple of pre holiday July highlights that start with the perfect light summer drink. Thanks to some pals for the introduction 🙏

A special lunch at The Ned. Basically a dream buffet, I wonder how many lobsters you can take before someone intervenes?

Ardingly Reservoir looking stunning in the sun. A local gem.

Beer in beer gardens isn’t complete without scampi fries.

A lovely lunch at Edie’s at Borde Hill.

Tacos from Casa Azul We’ll be heading back to eat the whole menu soon.

We’re well and truly in the peak of courgette season at our house. Having only grown two plants this year (last year we had four!) things are much more manageable and I can enjoy incorporating them into meals at leisure rather than furiously baking breads and cakes to use up the never ending supply. Recently I made a sausage and courgette pasta which used eggs and Parmesan in the way you would for a carbonara. It was delicious and a fairly easy midweek dinner. The recipe for this will be in the STR email newsletter out on Friday. Click the link in our bio to sign up.

Just back from a week in Portugal with friends. Baby had an amazing time. We had amazing time. Here’s a few food and drink highlights…

Bean stew with prawns and baby razor clams.

Grilled salmon.

The best food was in the local restaurants with these outstanding value set lunch menus, all snacks, drinks and dessert included 🤯 Restaurant: Cozinha da Avo

Wine tasting with UVAE Wine Tasting Highly recommend if you’re staying in the Algarve.

Bacalhau with potato, onion and egg plus pork chops with rice and chips 🫶 Another set lunch with chocolate mousse to finish. Restaurant: Recanto da Boavista

Lots of evening meals at the villa - perfect BBQ chicken done by a friend.

My turn to cook. Prawns were the star, drenched in olive oil, garlic and chilli.

Fantastic, give me 14 of them. Pear and rum cocktails.

Obviously grilled fish and some form of potato were a big feature. This was seabass. Nicely charred and salty.

✨The menu for our September brunch pop-up is here! Some revisited and hopefully upgraded Salt the Radish favourites and some completely new ideas. So glad I held on to those crumpet moulds for the last 8 years.

This pop-up is going to be in the style of our tried and tested supper clubs. A set menu, shared tables, eating together as a group. Should be a lot of fun!

It seems like a good time to (re)introduce myself. 💛

I’m Kat. I owned Salt the Radish Cafe in London from 2017 until 2024. I have now swapped the city for the countryside (sort of) and moved to Sussex, got a garden and started growing vegetables. 🌽

Not wanting to let go of everything Salt the Radish I decided to adapt / change and create a new business model focussing on catering, events and supper clubs.

I had a baby last November and I want work that allows me to spend time with my family whilst doing work that is authentic to me and the Salt the Radish brand.

High Tea for Father’s Day. An amazing spread that I can’t take any credit for. Sweet and savoury scones, mushroom vol-au-vents, watermelon and feta salad, bantam eggs and celery salt, roadside cherries (IYKYK) and strawberry and apple juice.

The first long weekend of the year is approaching!

If you fancy making yourself a great breakfast to celebrate those extra slow mornings, then the STR masala fried eggs and potato brunch recipe is in this month’s email newsletter.

I donated this recipe to .co for their Brunch in London cookbook a few years ago. A fantastic book and charity. Still available to buy.
