We were very lucky to attend the Conference & Incentive Travel (C&IT) Awards at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on Friday evening, with special thanks to Katie Gallimore from Air Charter Service for her kind invitation 🙏 It was great to make new connections and reconnect with old friends whilst celebrating the achievements of our industry leaders. This year marks our 10-year anniversary and believe it or not, the first year we have attended the awards!

Back in May 2014 when we started Event Bookers, we never dreamt it would be as successful as it is today. We are incredibly fortunate and grateful to have clients that put their faith in us to deliver successful event programs and global tour logistics. We will take the opportunity in the last quarter of this year to celebrate with those clients as without them we wouldn’t be where we are today.

There have been many highs and lows over the last ten years, resulting in an incredible learning experience for both of us. Starting a new business is challenging enough, however whilst growing the business, we have raised young children, juggled hectic family commitments, and endured a global pandemic. Now we have made it to the other side, we have had time to reflect on our journey so far. We are resilient! We are also incredibly excited to still be here, doing what we love and feel passionate about.

The last 15 months has been catastrophic for the UK travel industry – and tragically still remains so today. Hundreds of travel businesses are quite literally now on the brink of failure – with hundreds, if not thousands, of jobs on the line. The furlough scheme has been a lifesaver for these businesses, but the withdrawing of this in September will sound a death knell for hundreds of companies.

TTG Media is calling on prime minister Boris Johnson and chancellor Rishi Sunak to provide furlough support beyond September 30, introduce dedicated financial support for this industry, including 100% business rates relief for the full financial year as well as a dedicated grant scheme.

Use your position to publicly voice support for the travel industry – especially travel agents – to restore confidence in this sector, in the same way that you spoke up for restaurateurs when you launched the Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

We are calling on everyone in travel, everyone with an interest in or passion for travel, and everyone with a stake in travel, to support this urgent call by signing the petition below.

Today we had a presentation on beautiful Montenegro 🇲🇪 as a prospective events destination. What an amazing and diverse country it is, from the wonderful coastline areas some of which are protected UNESCO world heritage sites, to the Skadar Lake region with vineyards in the central belt and up to the mountains in the North. It is easy to move around the country and there are just so many possibilities that we can’t wait to share with you from all the water based activities, paddle board yoga, culinary experiences, wineries, and so much more. It is a fantastic CSR destination too. Even more exciting are the new openings planned for 2022 and 2023. Some big names opening up, get there before everyone else does!

Just a few weeks ago last year we were working through the night helping our lovely client get her people home as fast as possible after she received a call at 7pm to say the tour had been cancelled. It was a difficult night navigating border closures and flight cancellations but we got the first performer on a flight at 6am ✈️

Our client was unaware this would be her last tour for the foreseeable, and we were unaware this would be our last piece of work for a long time. The uncertainty has been the most difficult thing to deal with, but we are still here (thankfully) and we just need to keep looking ahead and remain positive.

It was heartwarming for us to see our client give us a special mention, one year later, on LinkedIn: “I worked through the night booking flights with our amazing UK agents Event Bookers, who I couldn’t have done this without” ❤️

These kind words and recommendations really do mean a lot, particularly in these difficult times. We really hope our paths will cross again when live events picks up, whenever that may be. We love this industry, we are not ready to give up just yet 💪🙏🏼

After the government’s announcement yesterday, it appeared to have a really positive impact on consumer confidence for booking travel 🎉✈️

Whilst it is amazing to have some dates to work towards, we still have to keep an open mind and be cautious that plans could potentially change at the last minute. We need to know how everything will work with regards to quarantine measures, testing and the restrictions in other countries for UK citizens.

However we can’t deny we are super pleased that International air travel is on the government’s agenda and for once in a long time we are hopeful 🙏🏼

Waiting patiently to see what will be announced on the 22nd February. In the meantime, this is a good article, in particular talking about the benefits of booking a package holiday given the trouble passengers went through last year obtaining refunds from unscrupulous companies.

We really hope something can be done to save our beloved industry. I’m not really sure many travel businesses could cope with another year of this, and we all want to go on holiday 🙏🏼

It may be tempting to make a booking, but having to get Covid-19 tests could add massively to the cost
