This month, we’re shining a light on Chizoba. Nigerian content creator, blogger, and budding photographer. But more than that, someone who genuinely gets what GDC is about.
Chizoba talks about community the way we think about it: not as a nice-to-have, but as something reciprocal, proactive, and intentional. She’s the kind of person who shows up willing, even when it’s nerve-wracking, and makes sure no one around her feels left out. We saw that at the Hot Girl Walk, where she moved through the group keeping conversations going — not because anyone asked her to, but because that’s just who she is. She’s also been organising her own events (picnic) in our WhatsApp chat, because she understands that this is her club too.
She understands the barriers that can make socialising feel exclusive, and wants GDC to reach more people, including those who are disabled, outside London, or just not quite ready to walk into a room full of strangers yet.
Her definition of community? A battery pack. Somewhere you leave feeling energised, not drained. That’s the standard she holds for this space and the standard she brings to it herself.
We’re glad she’s here.
