What if the most meaningful parts of a wedding aren’t the traditions we’ve inherited, but the ones we choose with intention?

It’s a question I’ve been sitting with a lot lately.

As a celebrant, I’m endlessly fascinated by the rituals we create around love, belonging and commitment. Whether we stand beneath an ancient oak, gather in a circle with the people we love, or pause to honour those who cannot be with us, these moments remind us that ceremony is about far more than following a script.

I’ve recently written three new journal articles exploring these ideas: Pagan-inspired weddings, the symbolism of the sacred circle, and the role of ancestry within wedding ceremonies.
