Death and dying are part of life, but we are often encouraged to keep them at a distance until loss arrives.
I recently completed a course in the Principles of End of Life Care because I believe funeral celebrancy asks for more than writing and leading a ceremony. It asks me to understand something of the emotional, practical and relational landscape a family may have travelled through before we meet.
In my latest article, I share why I chose to deepen my understanding of end-of-life care, what it brings to my work as a celebrant, and why I believe talking more openly about death can help us live, love and remember with greater presence.
