MOMmade preparing Mung dal vadi also known as mungodi. A vegetable option made in summer to last the whole year of flavours. This has been very popular, third batch two already prepared and dispatched. Many of my friends on FB wanted how to prepare this if they want to so here we go.

I have taken one kilogram washed mung dal, some make with mung dal with its shell. it is all good very much upto how one has seen their MOM or GrandMa use to prepare.

Ingredients/Recipe:
- Most important ingredient is good Sunshine :) for at least two continuous days
- Soak the mung dal the night before you would like to prepare, Soak for minimum 4 to 6 hours, if preferred can soak overnight
- Next day morning the sun is shining around 7am drain the water in which we soaked the dal, then rinse the dal two to three times in fresh water
- Grind the dal coarse, many like to flavour the vadi with salt and red chilli powder or garam masala. I like to keep it simple i.e. no salt no flavour as I think flavours are best when using the vadi later during the year
- Make them as small as possible so can dry well (I have done this on food category material)
- Try and finish the preparation and by 10am so the vadi get full day of sunshine (In the evening the vadi would be around 70% dry but internal could be still a bit soggy)
- Vadi are dried well would leave the paper or material they were placed on
- Move them in a utensil which allows lot of sunshine to reach these vadi
- Leave the vadi in sunshine for one more day for them to be 100% dry
- Store them in airtight container vadi can stay good for at least a year

Whenever you are fed-up of vegetables make mungodi with potatos as a curry or can be made with fenugreek as dry. This tastes good by itself or accompany with spicy soar line pickle(oil free) by MOMmade.
