Alexandra Vince has today launched her debut novel documenting his rise to fame as the Queen of Boudoir. In the book bearing that title, Alex charts her journey to notoriety as a pioneer in boudoir photography, where her clients experience something unique, powerful, restorative and deeply therapeutic as they learn to love their bodies by seeing them through the eye of a camera. Alexandra has enjoyed a 21 year career in this specialist area of photography and in that time she and her team of photographers have photographed over 20,000 women. It’s fair to say that Alex has seen it all, but with that come responsibility and a professionalism that comes without compromise as her clients are literally laid bare in front of her and her camera. Before you trust me with your bridal bo***ir shoot, you should know something about me.

I’m Alexandra Vince. A proud Gen X mum, entrepreneur and photographer who has spent 24 years building a business while navigating motherhood, relationships, menopause, technology, culture and a constantly changing photography industry.

My company started in 2002.

Since then, I’ve photographed over 20,000 women.

Not 200.
Not 2,000.
20,000.

And I know that stepping in front of a camera in lingerie — especially when you’re about to get married — isn’t just about beautiful photographs.

It’s about trust.

Trusting the person behind the camera to make you feel safe.
To understand that you might be nervous.
To never make you feel awkward.
To know how to pose you when you’ve spent years believing you’re “not photogenic”.

I’ve lived through a LOT.

Recessions.
A baby born with a cleft lip.
A son with a pituitary tumour.
Losing my brother too young.
Divorce and remarriage.
Covid.
Menopause.
The transformation from film to digital, social media and AI.
Building teams. Losing people. Corporate litigation.

And all while running a business.

I didn’t build my business from behind a desk.

I built it by putting real women in front of my camera — over 20,000 times — and helping them see themselves differently.

The Business of Bridal Bo***ir 👇

❌ I’ve trained 20 photographers to shoot bridal bo***ir over the years. From London to Moscow.
Here’s what I DON’T look for in a photographer …

1. ❌ NO JUDGY BI***ES

Yep, I said it. 😂

I would NEVER work with a photographer who brings judgment into the studio.

Open-mindedness and acceptance are non-negotiable.

There’s no judgment here at FYEO Portraits. Every woman deserves to feel comfortable, confident and completely herself.

2. ❌ NO FROSTY LENS

Someone who doesn’t see through a warm & sexy lens

I’ve designed the FYEO poses to be sexy, artistic, flattering and feminine.

And that “sexy lens” is something I teach my photographers.

It’s seeing the shot and thinking:
“WOW. That looks incredible.”

It’s knowing how to guide someone, reassure them and encourage them to try something new always respecting their boundaries and what they’re comfortable with.

4. ❌ NO HECTIC ENERGY

Calm energy is EVERYTHING in the studio.

Your photographer is your guide. And you want her to be calm and strong.

You need her to stay calm - especially when you might initially feel vulnerable or nervous.

Because you might be confronting fears you have carried for years.

You need her to be the calmest person in the room.

3. ❌ No BAD EYE FOR IT

If you can’t see a beautiful angle, recognise gorgeous light or take the initiative to create the shot…

You won’t be an FYEO photographer.

It’s instinct.

We don’t work with models in the studio. Every woman needs direction, encouragement and reassurance.

So yes, you need the technical photography skills.

But you ALSO need the eye.

And that’s why bridal bo***ir Gemma is the best.
