- that’s the beautiful way a proponent of bringing the process of Terramation, or human composting, to the UK described the experience when he lay in one of the caskets to experience it. “I realised at that moment that my body was not going to be disposed of, but transformed. Of all the ways I’ve seen death handled around the world, this felt the most natural, the most honest - and the most hopeful.”
It takes just 60 days in one of the special sealed caskets for a body to turn into soil. It’s legal in some states in the US but not yet here.
Appreciating death as part of nature’s great cycle of renewal, I would love to see it becoming an option here soon 🍃

Celebrant-led ceremonies can be in a woodland or field, up a mountain or on the beach, in a pub garden or your back garden, on a country estate or an urban roof terrace…

What’s your favourite alcohol-free fizz? (and I don’t mean sparkling water)

Like most champagnes, all the drinks listed are vegan (and yes that is a thing).

Category: KOMBUCHA STYLE
🥇 Winner: Real Dry ⬆️ Also Real Blush
Runner up: LA Sparkling White Rose and English Blush (£59 for 6)

Category: BUDGET ROSÉ £6 & under
🥇 Winner: Kylie Alcohol Free Rosé ⬆️
Runner up: M&S Fizzero Rosé (£5) – if you like a slightly sweeter wine.
Other budget options like Nozeco (£3.50), Cordoniu Zero Sparkling Alcohol Free (£5.50) and Freixenet 0.0% (£5) are too sweet and bland for my tastes – keep them chilled when serving!

Category: HAPPY MEDIUM £10 - £15
🥇 Winner: Noughty ⬆️
Runner up: Oddbird Blanc de Blancs (£14) is dry, crisp and zesty. It starts off as a quality wine from Chardonnay and Columbard before the alcohol is removed.

Category: FANCY FIZZ £25 +
I haven’t tried these more expensive ones myself, but from what I have gleaned via reviews, drinks experts etc…
🥇 Winner: French Bloom Le Rosé (£35) ⬆️ & Le Blanc (£32.50) .bloom
Runner up: Bolle Sparkling Blanc de Blanc (£25) is apparently the only NA in the world that goes through a secondary fermentation, like traditional champagne.

Happy newish year! 💚 Yes I know that “engagement season” is probably not the wisest time for a celebrant to go to ground and take a break from social media 🤔 But sometimes early January calls for a bit of “wintering”…
Now I’m coming up for air and light, looking forward to another year with all the fun and joy, the sadness and profundity, that my role entails.
I’m not a “digital native” and I’m learning on the job - creating social media posts can take me hours (and a fair bit of swearing), where it would take my teenager one minute.
I’m on much surer ground listening to those of you who are going through life-changing times, and (re)telling your stories, supporting you and offering guidance where wanted. I don’t take your trust lightly. I craft ceremonies and write scripts that connect, that feel real and authentic - because they are. I deliver them in the same vein. I work my ass off to make everything the best it can be. I smile a lot. It feels so worthwhile and it gives so much back to me.
I’ll try to be better about keeping in touch from now on… 💚
