Theatre Deli

Theatre Deli Theatre Deli fills empty spaces with art and artists, creativity and community. Find out about What’s On here.

Registered charity Theatre Deli has been a driving force within the arts since 2008, taking over empty spaces in city centres, and creating 15 hubs to date that support emerging artists, companies and communities whose identities, backgrounds, disciplines or work are underrepresented in theatre. Currently operating in Sheffield and London, Theatre Deli works to develop diverse audiences, artistic

communities by providing safe suitably resourced environments for everyone to experiment with, develop, showcase and enjoy art. We support and invest in artists through residencies, drop-ins, jams, festivals, co-productions, in-kind support and so much more. Our opportunities for artists will always be found on this website. You can explore the community hubs we’ve created - past and present - in our Theatre Deli Archive. You can learn more about how we partner with landlords and property developers here. In 2021 we paid over £25,000 to artists across our various programmes, and a further £9,850 in artist-favoured box office splits. We welcomed over 10,000 visitors to our spaces, and gave away more than £15,000 worth of our affordable studio space in kind.

🍬Story Pick + Mix is a season of stand-up storytelling shows for seekers and dreamers within reach of central London.

🍫Contemporary retellings of some of the best Old Stories, told by some of the UK’s best professional storytellers, hosted by a storyteller as obsessed with retro pick + mix sweets as she is with stories.

🍭Each event showcases one full-length fairytale for grownups, aiming to gratify the inner child of us all. Curated by The House of Rumour in cahoots with leading UK story promoter The Crick Crack Club.

🍡After the show, the audience will be invited to create their own ‘pick+mix metaphor’ for what they’ve just seen, to add to the Story Pick + Mix Library.

🍻Actual candy (and occasionally, actual drinks) will be available free for those whose teeth can still handle it …

is a multi-layered theatrical event spanning 15 spaces and is an urgent collective response to the release of the Epstein Files.

Created by more than seventy female-identifying and non-binary playwrights and artists, it confronts institutional silence, cultural complicity and the enduring history of misogyny.

It is a two-part experience. The first half offers an exploration of the office floor, where a series of durational installations, performances and scenes unfold. Moving between the 15 spaces, audiences will encounter spaces of rage, hope and resistance.

The second half brings the audiences together for a collective unifying act that draws the project’s many voices into a single, shared theatrical moment. 💪

Writer and director conceived of the project in a playwriting WhatsApp group when the files were first released. She was joined by who is producing ALL THE RAGE for the collective, in co-production with Roxanne Carney and Theatre Deli, with Deborah Pearson as Consulting Producer. Lucy Morrison directs.

🎟️£6-£15 (£2 per ticket sold will be donated to a charity working with survivors of sexual abuse and gender based violence)

📋Phoebe is 28, a journalist, has OCD and is the queen of lists. On her mirror, on the fridge, all over her hands and…everywhere basically.✍️

Her favourite lists are:

1) shopping,
2) favourite stationary
3) least favourite numbers
4) past jobs ranked in order of wanting to staple her earlobes to the table
5) the missed opportunities folder in her emails.

😈She’s pretty sure keeping them is her healthiest habit, propelling her on towards being the most productive, best version of herself. So, when her lists are spawning lists and lists and lists and becoming an overwhelming listathon, and a pink fluffy monster appears under her duvet and starts spooning her while she sleeps: she’s sure there isn’t a problem.

😱Phoebe wonders if she needs her space: but the monster is a really good cook, plus they do all her washing for her. So why is she suddenly listing all the ways she might die?

“Bravura solo performance”

“Blackburn makes this contrast between fantasy and reality both devastating and familiar”

The Quinntessential Review: “Blackburn and Browning can be proud of this inventive, open-ended portrait of an everyday life spent negotiating relentless, obsessive compulsion.”

: “Beautifully poetic writing” “Raw honesty to Blackburn’s performance”
