Last week I had the incredible honour last week of meeting His Majesty the King at a reception at the gloriously sunny Windsor Castle.

I was invited by His Majesty after winning a Kings Enterprise Award for Promoting Opportunity Through Social Mobility for the pioneering work I started ten years ago couldn’t make me feel more proud of what we’ve achieved at Social Pantry.

It is always rewarding to be recognised for our work and this award felt extra special as we were there with other incredible business leaders from all industries.

The King and I had a lovely chat, having the chance to share my thoughts on how rewarding it is working with prison leavers with the King was a career highlight, that’s for sure!

A night of art, music and feasting ✨

We had the pleasure of catering a soulful evening at as guests gathered for an immersive experience filled with exhibitions from incredible artists, live music and a family-style feasting menu.

Kicking things off with curated canapés upstairs, guests then moved downstairs into a beautifully draped dining room and shared platters of our Honey & Mint Glazed Lamb Shoulder, Miso Mushroom ‘Butter’ Grilled Cabbage Wedges and Kohlrabi, Fennel & Celeriac Remoulade, amongst other dishes.

To round off the meal, we filled a dreamy dessert station with bite-sized sweet canapés, including our Toasted Croissant Pudding, and Sour Cherry Cheesecake with Fennel Crumb 🍬

A wonderful collaboration that brought people together through creativity, community and good food.

Wilderness Festival feasting tickets are live! 🎟️

That’s right folks - we’re back in the fields of Oxfordshire again this summer to bring a whole host of incredible dining to the people of !

Our Long Table Banquet tent is where we’ll be spending most of our time, bringing the menus of (yes really!) , , and to life, for our 900 guests each day 🧑‍🍳

This year is our fifth consecutive year of supporting the team with the feasting and dining offering at the festival, and we can’t wait to get stuck in!

Earthfest incoming 🌍

On June 8th our Head of Development Sarah will be hosting a hands-on cooking demo at the Green Kitchen, and you can be there too! 👇

‘From Scraps to Seasoning – Making the Most of Every Ingredient’ will showcase how to use every part of an ingredient, incorporating foraged and preserved elements to promote zero-waste cooking. Guests will learn how to create a simple herb-infused oil or flavoured salt using leftover herb stems, citrus peels, or edible flowers from a local allotment.

Joining Sarah on stage will be our Senior Workplace Partner Amy, who will interview Sarah on zero-waste cooking practices and her industry-leading closed-loop menus.

Held across 6th - 8th June, Earthfest is breathing new life into the climate movement. It’s a vibrant festival of sustainability in the heart of London, bringing together changemakers, innovators, and thought leaders to explore bold solutions for a sustainable future. Across the weekend, there’s an incredible lineup of change-makers who are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible 🌍

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Social Pantry are the proud recipient of a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise, for Promoting Opportunity through Social Mobility!

recognises leaders in their field who adopt exemplary working practices and inspire other businesses. Social Pantry has been recognised for its excellence in promoting opportunity and social mobility through its work with prison leavers, an initiative which has been driven by the passion, vision and determination of Social Pantry’s founder and CEO .

Alex’s ethos when she established the company in 2011 - and which remains today - is that Social Pantry’s core mission is to deliver ‘Food with Impact’, aiming to make catering about more than just the food and to show it’s possible to make a positive impact on the world.

We began to employ prison leavers in 2015 when it was just an 8-person team, as a result of Alex’s first prison visit, alongside charity . Since then, we have employed 42 prison leavers, facilitated work tasters to 22 and aim for 10% of our core workforce to be prison leavers.

“It’s ten years since I met my first mentee in HMP Isis” says Alex, “ I knew that even as a small business I wanted to make a difference and could remove the barriers that faced prison leavers to give them an opportunity at Social Pantry. I’m really proud that I have been able to help so many prison leavers with paid work and training in the hospitality industry and take time to encourage other businesses to begin their own initiatives with prison leavers.”

We are so honoured to have received this award and can’t wait to see what opportunities lie ahead for continuing Alex’s incredible work.

New venue alert! 🥳

We’re thrilled to share that we’re joining the list of accredited suppliers for the brand new V&A East Storehouse ✨

Opening at the end of the month, this is a museum with a difference - a fascinating space unlike any other Museum space in London, it houses the ’s collection, from the oldest and the smallest items, to colossal architectural fragments and entire room sets.

From a welcoming bright, reception space, to the cavernous Weston Collections Hall and the impression David Bowie Centre (which holds more than 90,000 items tracing Bowie’s creative processes), there is space aplenty for hosting unforgettable dinners, private views, and iconic drinks receptions.

Spanning four floors (and bigger than 30 basketball courts 🤯) V&A East Storehouse is built to house over 250,000 objects, 350,000 library books, 1,000 archives, and centuries of design, fashion, art and culture from the V&A’s collection.

We cannot wait to host our first event at this groundbreaking new venue!

Winner, winner, tomato dinner 🍅

Looking back to one of the most impressive events we were part of last year, this 3-day immersive pop-up dinner at showcased the humble tomato at its finest and has since been crowned Best Marketing Campaign at the World Food Innovation Awards! 🏆

From cocktails t o canapés (and even dessert!), every dish featured the iconic Mutti Pomodoro tomatoes, with bespoke creations designed by our Head of Development, Sarah.

With the walls and table springing to life, and even Francesco Mutti himself in attendance, guests were virtually transported to Italy to celebrate ’s 120-year legacy 🥫

We are so excited to announce two new exclusive venue partnerships with the iconic City of London Corporation!

From 1st September 2024, Social Pantry will deliver its high-impact yet socially and environmentally conscious catering at Mansion House and The Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey), two of the City’s most impressive and culturally significant venues.

With these new City of London Corporation tender-wins, as well as being appointed as the exclusive caterer for Tower Bridge earlier this year, the new partnerships continue to further cement Social Pantry’s presence as one of London’s go-to caterers.

With 13 unique catering concepts across the two standalone venues, Social Pantry will be managing all aspects of the catering, from internal cafés and eateries to state functions and commercial events regularly held within these historic London landmarks.

As the UK’s leading independent and female-founded sustainable caterer, we strive to deliver exceptional quality service and events at minimal social and environmental cost. Founder and CEO said, “The team at Social Pantry are really looking forward to putting these iconic venues on the map for events as well as running the in-house catering at The Old Bailey. It’s that time of year folks, Wilderness Festival is about to start! 🥳🎪🧑‍🍳

2024 marks the fourth year we have supported the team with the Feasting & Dining offering over the four-day festival, feeding thousands of people and bringing fine dining to the fields of Oxfordshire.

With less than a month to go, excitement at SP HQ is palpable for Wilderness Festival! 🎪🤩

Alongside the incredible lineup of chefs across the feasting and dining lineup, the tables are turning and our very own Head of Development Sarah Turner is becoming one of the guest chefs for one night only!

Taking over Wilderness Kitchen on Thursday 3rd August, she’ll be creating a one-of-a-kind vegetarian feast - served family style, platters will be laden high with vibrant, seasonal produce 🥗
