BOUQUET DECAY : I find a ‘strange’ beauty in the various stages of decomposition flowers and foliage go through… and enjoy finding creative ways of maximising their full lifespan… and indeed showcasing their use beyond this…!!
This forms the inspiration of this year’s ‘HALLOWEEN HAND-TIE’ - A mix of ‘dead’, dried flower heads, foliage stems, grasses, berries and seed heads…blended with seasonal Halloween decorations.

…see it as a celebration for the ‘Day of the Dead’…!!!💀🕷️🕸️🕷️💀

LA FRANCE REVISITÉE : Holding onto memories from our recent holiday to the south of France, with a visit to the recently opened 'Painting the French Riviera' exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts.
A century of work by artists including Cezanne, Renoir, Monet, Bonnard, Picasso, Matisse and Klein… all of whom were enchanted by the light, colour and beauty of the ‘Côte d'Azur’.
Walking through the colourfully painted galleries of the art institute, I noted many of the paintings resonated with images from my own holiday photo library…!!

THE AMBASSADOR’S RECEPTION : an Autumn ‘feast’ of seasonal windfalls. A selection of horse and sweet chestnuts, London plane and sweet gum [liquidambar] tree ‘seed-balls’ - all collected locally… Chocolate cosmos flowers from Green & Boom flowers and hypericum berries from Jon Hart, both at New Covent Garden Market… All presented with a handful of Ferrero Rocher chocolates to continue the knobbly , spherical theme…!!

HALLOWEEN WORKSHOPS : I’m introducing Halloween themed workshops this year… where you can create a decorative pumpkin centrepiece.
Fill a pumpkin with an array of fresh flowers, fruits, foliage and seasonal decorations, creating the ideal arrangement to decorate your home and delight friends, family and ’trick or treaters’ this Halloween.

FURTHER SOUTH : More images from our recent visit to southern France. Travelling east to the Provence region, visiting L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Gordes and Bonnieux.
A medley of hilltops and streetscapes… churches and waterways… a perfect blend of nature and the built environment with the odd brocante thrown in for good measure.
Two weeks is way short of the well recorded year spent in this French region but we’ll definitely return to explore this corner of Europe further in the future.

FRENCH BEIGE : Ten days travelling around the Occitanie and Hérault regions of southern France.
Visiting the towns of Carcassonne, Capestang, Béziers, Pézenas and Sète… all whilst enjoying the last moments of this summer’s sunshine.
The autumnal shades and the change in seasons has obviously, subconsciously influenced my photographic subjects and colour palette…!!

BENTON END | END OF TERM : An insight into the ‘East Anglian School of Painting & Drawing’ during the 1950’s… showcasing a number of paintings, photographs, drawings, personal belongings and correspondence from the school in its heyday.
Artist Cedric Morris and his lifelong partner Arthur Lett-Haines were joined by protégée gardener Beth Chatto and cookery writer Elizabeth David - all of whom, as a collective influenced a generation of artists and gardeners… encouraging creative freedom and horticulture experimentation.
Students of the school included Lucian Freud and Joan Warburton.

BENTON END : ‘A Paradise of Pollen and Paint’ runs at the Garden Museum until this Sunday 20th September 2026.

THE A - Z OF FLOWERS : A spotlight on ZINNIAS - I love these bright, colourful annuals which are at their best from mid-summer to the first autumn frosts.
This year in particular they provide a bright explosion of ’neon’ hues punctuating the scorched landscape as the seasons change.
