BIRTHDAY BOUQUET : late summer stems in shades of fresh green and hot orange… celebrating a recent, very special birthday.
Using a mix of roses, gladioli, astrantia, crocosmia, leucospermum, stripped back sunflowers, tamarix and clematis ‘vitalba’, all blended with a selection of dried grasses, hand-painted twigs and seedheads.

WORTH REMEMBERING BARBARA : having spent over 34 years of my working life in retail design at the John Lewis Partnership, initially working for Waitrose & Partners and latterly for John Lewis & Partners- I developed an appreciation for Barbara Hepworth from an early age.
So now, with a change of career into floristry and continuously being Influenced by sculpture and the modern art movement it was inspiring to visit ‘Hepworth in Colour’ at the The Courtauld gallery recently… This exhibition explores the artist’s lifelong fascination with colour, which she used in highly original ways across multiple mediums.

‘Hepworth in Colour’ runs until 6th September 2026 at the Courtauld Gallery, Somerset House, Strand WC2.

REMEMBERING GREEN : after months of extreme temperatures and very little rain… [not complaining] - most of the country is now either in drought or what’s called a ‘period of prolonged dry weather’.
The countryside, parks and gardens are all parched, with flora and fauna struggling.
As we all look forward in desperation to the rain forecast in the coming days, l reflect on a previous commission for a Clerkenwell ceramics showroom… dried flowers in bright, fresh green tones buck the current trend of everything crispy and brown…!!!

‘BAKED APPLES’ : apples, foraged clusters of blackberries and elderberries along with echinacea heads, oats and virginia creeper create this ‘cornucopia’ of pre-harvest fruit and flowers…
With high temperatures continuing and parched soils desperate for rain, the flora of the hedgerows is maturing earlier this season, but struggling to reach its full potential.

Responding to a brief to provide flowers for a recent corporate re-branding event in the City of London, having been supplied with the company’s new corporate colour palette.
