Slimelight is the longest running dark scene club in the world, as well as one of the most recognised and respected events. The club was founded by Dette Marsh and Mayuan Mak in 1987, and has been located at its current venue “The Electrowerkz” since October of that year. Initially opening as a members only club with just o

ne dance floor playing what was advertised as “the only alternative”, in reality this was a mix of goth, post punk, industrial, new wave, indie, alternative electronic, and crossover 80s music. Over the years the club has adapted to the ever changing dark scene, and has expanded to include multiple dance floors and performances from live bands. It ran every Saturday until March 2020 when the covid 19 outbreak forced the club to relocate online with our DJs running livestream sets on Twitch. Regular streams still take place when the club is not open. Since July 2021 when the venue re-opened after the relaxation of covid restrictions the club runs monthly with at least two dance floors set up as follows:-

Floor 1: electro, futurepop, dark techno/electro/trance, aggrotech, tbm, synthpop and so on

Floor 2: goth, industrial, post punk, new wave, 80s, darkwave, old school ebm and so on. When Slimelight runs additional dance floors these feature one off themes such as a 80s special, a Wax Trax special, a "Retrospective" special, to name just a few examples. Our current resident DJs are Steve Weeks, Francesca (Blackdeath 1334), Uwe (GassMann), Emmerick Gortz, Calum (Jo The Waiter), and Marco (Jester).

Introducing the CLUB ARENA DJs:

Steve Weeks – Slimelight resident since 1995, known for seamlessly mixing an eclectic range of new and classic tracks to keep the floor moving. He has guested over 20 times at Leipzig’s WGT, as well as at M’era Luna and Amphi festivals, and has released music with RBN, Stok:holm, and DKAG.

Køhl – With recent sets at Ministry of Sound, Infest Festival, and gigs across Greece, Køhl also holds residencies with Cryptid Qu**rs (Sheffield) and Sinistry (London). His high-energy sets push the darker edge of industrial, EBM, techno, and hard dance.

Malefica – Slimelight’s newest resident DJ, bringing fresh energy and sharp selections to the floor with her unique take on dark electronic sounds.

Introducing the GOTH FLOOR DJs:

Blackdeath 1334 – Slimelight resident DJ and Goth Floor curator. Active since the mid-1990s, she is one of the most iconic figures on the goth scene worldwide, known for intense sets spanning Industrial, Gothic, EBM, Wave, and Rhythmic Noise.

Cavey Nik – A legendary London goth DJ and co-founder of Dead & Buried, a long-running club night dedicated to deathrock, post-punk, and minimal wave. Renowned for keeping the old-school goth spirit alive.

Fil Noir – International goth DJ and co-runner of Reformation Club, bringing together darkwave, post-punk, and EBM with a sophisticated European touch.

Ricardo Castro – Slimelight promoter and event organiser, as well as founder of Dark Room. A driving force in London’s dark scene, known for curating cutting-edge events across the city.

Our Story

Full club information: Slimelight normally features 2 dance floors - one covering ebm / electro / futurepop / dark techno / aggrotech / tbm and so on, and the other covering goth / wave / old school post punk / industrial. From time to time there are special events with 3 or 4 dance floors. The club is open every Saturday from 23:00 until 07:30 (except when Saturday falls on 24th/25th/26th December) and we also open on New Years Eve. Standard entrance: £5 members, £8 non-members. You do not have to be a member or signed in by a member to attend, but government issued photo ID from any country is required (local council licensing restriction). New Years Eve usually has a different pricing structure and tickets for this are always available in advance. Bands sometimes appear as special acts during the club night for no additional cost. Pre-club gigs at the venue usually include free entry to the aftershow Slimelight club. From time to time, free entry to the club before midnight is offered to members and is announced on the slimelight official page and corresponding event. Membership:- To become a member collect a form from the front desk when you attend the club, fill it in, get 2 members to counter sign it, hand the form back in at the front desk and pay your initial membership fee. Your membership card is then issued and is available for collection either from the front desk the next time you attend or sometimes between 3 am and 6 am the same night.
