Sadly, it's time to roll the final credits.... we'll miss you guys! Thank you from all our hearts for all your inspirational work, ideas and the support you've given us over the past two decades.

As owner and outgoing director, Alison Poltock says:

“It’s terribly sad of course, but we have a lot to celebrate. Alongside our film series we have commissioned poets and performers, launched soundtracks and educational programmes. We have applauded and appreciated film in all its forms and genres. We’ve been at the cutting edge and the very centre of the cinema experience. It really has been a pleasure and an honour to be involved. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to all the filmmakers, artists, sponsors, staff and volunteers who’ve supported us over the years. It’s the end for now, but who knows, one day there may be a sequel.”

"The push to provide a more mainstream commercial offering is not for us."

A new year, a new year-round format! The East End Film Festival is excited to announce the expansion of its partnership with Rich Mix London to co-present a year-round programme of screenings and events.

The annual EEFF festival is taking a strategic break until spring 2020, but far from a fallow year, 2019 will be awash with activity focusing on the festival’s key aims: to support and provide a platform for important new voices in cinema whilst demonstrating the power of film as a vital, galvanising, enjoyable shared experience, open to all.

In keeping with previous editions, the festival will be presenting weekends dedicated to its core strands of Discovery, Headline, Platform and Submerge, in addition to its youth festival, Cutting East, and professional development programme.

The festival will continue to offer exclusive opportunities for the residents of East London, as well as free tickets for unwaged workers, those of limited income, asylum seekers and refugees.

For short filmmakers and those working on their first or second features, there will be various opportunities to screen with the festival throughout 2019, so please keep an eye on our website. Details of these will be announced soon.

Thank you for your continued support, we very much look forward to seeing you in 2019, and a very Happy New Year!

Calling all filmmakers. Here's an important date for all your diaries! 14th January 2019.

This is the date that applications open for an amazing new fimmaking initiative by director, producer and co-founder of the EEFF Transit Award, John Jencks.

The Uncertain Kingdom intends to give 20 filmmakers up to £10,000 each to make a short film that says something about where we are, and who we are, in 2019.

The Uncertain Kingdom will bring together a broad a spectrum of filmmakers to create a unique snapshot of the UK as it is seen by some of our most visionary creatives.

John says “I’ve always believed in the power of a good short films to engage an audience with a concept or moment. Given the chaotic moment we live in, it seemed to me that a group of filmmakers could come together and, as a whole, present a vision of the
United Kingdom in 2019 that would entertain, resonate and inspire.”

In addition to applications, some filmmakers have been invited to contribute and we're deligted to announce this includes actor/producer/director and BAFTA Breakthrough Brit Ray Panthaki. You'll remember that Ray Panthaki's directorial debut short film 'Life Sentence' won the EEFF best short award and he produced and starred in the 2016 EEFF opening night gala film 'One Crazy Thing'.

Ray says “The more I grow, the more I understand it’s my responsibility as an artist to attempt to challenge the environment around me. The Uncertain Kingdom has the potential to not only entertain and inspire, but to offer up those challenges. It’s an honour to be working amongst such an eclectic group of filmmakers whose work I admire and
appreciate.”

Good luck to everyone involved in such an amazing project!
