Mary Lewis from Heritage Crafts made the opening address at today’s Capel Manor College Student Awards and Showcase.

"Craft does not exist alone - we are interconnected and share a common language of precision, patience and pride.

Capel Manor is a hub of excellence that keeps skills alive and where heritage becomes opportunity.

Graduates have chosen to do something difficult - and are taking the hard job of building skills that are rare, valuable and respected.

The Red List of Endangered Craft is a diverse umbrella for craft in the UK, with optimism woven through - makers are not giving up. It is astonishing what we have in our hands. "
