Today Prime Warden Ed Bullen had the pleasure of attending the final day of the Middlesex & NW London Army Cadet Force (ACF) annual camp at Longmoor in Hampshire. Over the past week, cadets have lived, worked, and trained together; building rafts, navigating (and sometimes getting lost!), practicing first aid, and even simulating hostage rescues. Their camaraderie, resilience, and growing confidence were truly inspiring.

It was great to see so many Borough Mayors, fellow Livery Companies, and countless dedicated volunteers, many of them ex-service personnel, supporting this impressive youth development programme.

A surprise highlight was an unscheduled visit from an Apache helicopter and crew from Middle Wallop, who gave cadets a thrilling insight into life in the Army Air Corps.

Saddlers’ Company is proud to support the ACF and the life-changing opportunities it offers young people across our communities.

🎉Well done to this year's winners of the Blue Cross Horse and Pony Care Champs: Heyfield Equestrian Centre - for the second time.🏆

They were the Saddlers’ winners in 2023 when the Centre partnered with the Angus Branch. They were just beaten by Atherstone in 2024, but finished ahead of Atherstone this year with their highest score yet - 494.5!

The Saddlers’ Company was proud to see Helen Sida-Page, one of many dedicated volunteers, at the Horse and Pony Care Competition during this year’s Pony Club Championships.

Helen did a sterling job educating and testing young equestrians on all aspects of tack care, correct fitting, management, and what to watch for to ensure their ponies and horses are comfortable and able to perform at their best. This module was just one of many in a competition that was massively oversubscribed. A clear sign of how passionate riders and their supporters are about learning to be the best custodians for their equine partners.

Today at the Pony Club National Championships, Phoebe from Fylde & District Pony Club showed off her skills with Godfrey Morris, Master Saddler from Crowncraft Saddlery.

She had a great time stitching, stamping, and proudly showing off her finished leather keyring, a lovely keepsake from a brilliant day!

Phoebe also competed in the Minis Blue Cross Horse and Pony Care Championships alongside her Fylde & District teammates – well done to all! 👏💙🐎

It’s Day 1 at the Pony Club National Championships!

Master Saddler Godfrey Morris is on the stand in the Fun Zone today, joined by Isle of Man Pony Club mum Stephanie, who stitched a keyring in super quick time, and with excellent technique!

A fantastic start to the event, with plenty more fun and learning still to come. 🐴

We loved meeting ponies, horses and riders at the British Showjumping (BS) National Championships.

Simon Welch, Saddlers' Company Equestrian Liaison to BS, presented a handmade, leather headcollar to Club Championship winners; Hot Spot Easter Surprise and Ruby. 🎉

Saddlers' Company held the annual picnic at Blenheim Palace, where we had a fantastic visit with 74 members, family and friends to check in on the Saddlers’ Copse, planted in 2022 for the late Queen’s Jubilee. Over 800 saplings are thriving!

Thanks to Phil Duff for organising a brilliant day, and to Roy Cox for an inspiring tour of the gardens and estate, showcasing sustainability efforts and the restoration of this World Heritage Site.

We’re proud of our growing relationship with Blenheim and look forward to future opportunities. Possibly even involving pupils from our supported schools. A special day all round!
