Sustainable production isn't a label architects and designers can afford to take at face value anymore. It's the ability to specify a product and verify — not assume — that the supply chain behind it is clean.
LAUFEN built the world's first CO₂-free electric kiln for sanitary ceramics. Not a pilot project. A 100-metre tunnel kiln running in Gmunden, Austria since 2024, powered entirely by on-site solar and certified renewable energy. The gas kiln it replaced has been shut down and recycled.
The impact: 5,000 tonnes of CO₂ eliminated per year. Two-thirds less energy per firing. Cradle to Cradle Certified.
