In April we ended our Italian road trip with another little stay in Venice where I finally managed to visit the little lace museum ‘Museo del Merletto’ on the island of Burano.

This small museum showcases the history and art of traditional Venetian lacemaking from the 16th to the 20th century and has over 200 pieces of lace made using traditional techniques.

It’s been on my bucket list of places to visit for a long time and it was lovely to visit and then wander along the brightly coloured houses that make up the island.

To celebrate Autumn, (when it finally arrives!) I’m having a sale on my original vintage wedding dresses, veils and accessories ranging from 1900s-1980s.

The sale begins on 1st September with prices starting from £150. All dresses and accessories are available to try on in my home studio in London SE12.

Perfect for budget friendly and, eco-friendly options, or as a second dress for your legal ceremony/evening party or if you simply want something a bit different to mass produced bridal gowns.

Stunning bride Katherine purchased a vintage dress from my ‘Gathered Collection’ for her wedding in May. She chose this beautiful late 1950s jacquard satin gown, which needed a few alterations to perfect the fit, along with some gorgeous pearl-effect buttons to finish the back fastening.

She also chose a double-layer, lace-edged vintage veil from my wide range of vintage and antique accessories to complete the look.

Classic vintage gowns don’t need lots of accessories or embellishment to show their natural beauty, and I think Katherine looked incredibly elegant on her big day. I was so happy to see this beautiful dress find its new owner and be worn for such a special occasion.

Annabel wanted something really special to wear to the evening reception of her wedding in May. She chose me to redesign her mum’s silk vintage 1990s bridal gown into a two-piece outfit so that it was a bit more contemporary and that she could enjoy wearing for the evening.

We kept some of the original fun details and character from the original style like the piped bodice silhouette, altered to fit and the oversized original bow that I made detachable so she could really party into the night. Using fabric from the original gown, I made her a new bespoke mini skirt finished with some of the scalloped lace at the hem.

I also made some adorable little matching hair bows for her flower girls using some of the pearl beaded silk fabric offcuts.

I loved giving this dress another life and making something very special for Annabel to wear on her big day that had such a personal connection; a little bit of her mum’s wedding day, made into something completely her own. ❤️

Ellie wanted a dress that had a bit of history and being a tattoo artist, she really liked the idea of something unique as well as being eco-conscious.

After travelling up from the depths of Cornwall with her fiance Phil and trying on a few pieces from my ‘Gathered Collection’ of vintage and antique gowns, she chose this beautiful 1930/40s satin gown.

With only minor alterations needed and slight changes to some design elements, the dress was perfect for her outdoor countryside wedding in May.

This dress is one of my all time favourites from the collection; the high neckline, soft gathering on the bodice and subtle swirl design on the oyster satin makes it very unique. I’m so happy that it got to be enjoyed again for another brides special day and I think Ellie styled it and wore it perfectly ❤️
