HELLO DECEMBER ❤️❤️❤️ New month, new hair. My fav month of the year.

How are you? I hope ok.

BTW, we are fully booked throughout December (and until May 2022 for weekend events) and are at full full capacity as back at our usual boxes per day averages (which run pretty darn high)! So sorry we can’t accommodate any more orders. Thanks so much to all those that have kept us going despite me still being out of action. Team GDL appreciates you all. ❤️

CONNECTED ✨✨✨ “how’s it really going?” I was asked yesterday. My answer shocked me.

I was reminded yesterday that 1. I’m not an island & 2. Just how much you drop your shoulders when you share.

I shared how hard I’m finding recovery with a group of women last night & I had no idea just how much I needed to let someone know.

I’m learning that it’s easy to overlook how hard you’ve fallen when in a constant state of trying to put your best foot forward & keep all the balls juggling.

“Keep it upbeat, encourage others, be the inspiration”, I keep telling myself. But sometimes being the inspiration is sharing that things are hard & it’s a struggle to stand up under the weight of the current challenge. It gives others personal permission to admit where they are at, unapologetically transparent.

We are all ok when asked but I’m learning there’s no shame in shining a light on a dark spot of the journey.

It’s vulnerable. It’s hard. It’s uncomfortable. But it’s necessary.

So here’s a reminder that you have a seat at the table and someone, somewhere has ears open to listen as big as their heart to hold you tight in the space you are in. Pull up a chair. You are valuable and you are loved. ❤️

YOU COULDN’T WRITE IT ✨✨ In fact I did.

If slowing down over the last few months has taught me anything, it’s that being constantly busy isn’t cute or pretty. It’s easy to say totally shifting my attention to GDL has kept me away from some of my favourite things in life but, if I’m honest, it’s been a choice.

Since I’ve had zero choice but to change the pace, I’ve revived my love for writing & channelling it all in A NEW GDL BLOG

The first instalment of our blog ‘TOGETHER: OUR TABLE, AT HOME’ is live on The GDL website. Featuring 3 quick & easy autumn recipes plus a round up of playlist essentials we are loving right now, it feels therapeutic to share some of the cooking I’ve been up to whilst singing loudly as we prep.

I’d love your feedback and comments on the actual post. The autumn pumpkin, carrot & coconut soup recipe packs an almighty punch. Defo worth a try.

TAKE A SEAT AT THE TABLE: THE WEBSITE IS OPEN ✨✨✨ We like a chinwag around here, on & off the grid. Today, I was reminded by a fiercely loyal customer what those chats mean to her & so many.

GDL was created so that food would be the centre piece, the wow factor that sat in the middle of amazing, often life changing, rarely meaningless moments in time. From meetings to make bold decisions to wedding days to hangover mornings.... I’ve never taken for granted the time we’ve been able to be part of your worlds.

As the website reopened for orders & I had a lil nosey at bookings made today, yes I shed a tear & defo felt overwhelmingly grateful. Thank you for every order & opportunity to be part of your worlds in even the tinest of ways. It means more to me then you’d ever realise. ❤️

WHO BROKE THE INTERNET? ✨✨✨ Ok it wasn’t the entire internet but a bit of a ponder over cheese never hurt nobody! I mean, crikey....I come back & socials crash. Something I said? 🤔👀🤣🤣🤣

Anyone ready to get in on the GDL grazing action? Who is ready to come with us on the next chapter where there is literally no holds barred??? We are still in the ring darlings....very very much so still in the ring! You’ll never know how amazing it is to write that!

FYI, even with me out of action, GDL has very much so continued to give all the cheese action. Yes, less has been delivered and the website hasn’t been open for orders but by golly, so many found a way to slip through the cracks to ensure you got your grazing action delivered for those special moments.

We will be back to full capacity with the website opening for orders from today onwards (too smashed to work on Sunday tbh). Our ‘fully booked’ will go back up to our standard 100 + per day & boy do we have freshness waiting for you darlings.

Sod you covid!!! Officially over it, being dragged down by its effects & sitting in the aftermath.

Here’s to moving forwards....it’s a good look! ❤️

COVID & ME ✨✨✨ I’ve rewritten this post more times then I can recall now. The pics explain it all. Where I was, how it’s going, where I’m at now.

So much more I could say but for now, this is literally all I can muster up! It’s been a lot darlings, a whole LOT.

Waste no time on the small stuff darlings & DO the things you’ve been putting off. Work hard at enjoying the world around you not just hitting goals. Seriously, life can be snatched away in a second. Sending you all so much love ❤️❤️❤️

SUNDAY: OUR IMPORTANT DAY ✨ who makes your days with loved ones important? Tag & send them some love in our comments.

Sunday is code for big brunches in our house. It may contain all that’s in this platter or a lot of West Indian favs from plantain to fried dumplings to Ackee & salt fish.

No matter what, our tables have always looked and felt like grazing long before we even knew what grazing boards or platters were.

Closely followed by fixing something in the house (aka shoddy DIY attempts), dragging teenagers for long walks (no matter the weather), returning to a house filled with the smell of perfectly cooked roast potatoes & the fattest roast you could think of. The late afternoon nap followed by the 80s movie or watching the same animation over & over. We don’t complain. We are just grateful for family moments. Grateful for time. Eternally grateful for good memories & the things that make our house a home. Whatever role you play in your home, family or friendship group, know that when you are missing there is a gap felt by all. You are missed, loved, wanted & needed by someone, somewhere at all times. You bring something that no one else can bring; a smile, a joke, dancing, loud music, introducing tv shows no one has heard of, trying out TikTok dances that everyone knows are impossible to do!

Your empty seat at the table is felt. What you bring when you fill that seat is electric. Never forget it. ❤️
