Two days, one beautiful venue, and a UK heatwave.
Here’s how we used five simple decisions to make the most of this global summer leadership conference.
• Planned the arrival around nature. Guests dropped their bags and were outside having coffee by the lake in less than 60 seconds.
• Made use of the grounds. The gardens weren’t just a pretty backdrop. They became part of the event - for walking breakouts, lunch outside, and conversations in fresh air.
• Brought summer inside too. When everyone came back indoors, summer came with them. Flowers and greenery indoors meant every space felt connected.
• Designed the feeling. If the evening had a soundtrack, it would have been the Islay Brothers’ Summer Breeze. All by design, not chance. We planned a relaxed barbecue, with soft jazz, at golden hour.
• Allowed for moments of play. A leadership conference can be serious stuff. We gave subtle permission for senior leaders to stop taking themselves seriously, with garden games, big screens showing the football, ping pong in the client’s colours, and a caricaturist.
Subtle decisions, big impact.
