The Boutique & Co.

The Boutique & Co. was opened in 2016 by Tori Harris and Vicky Mallinson. Both had run independent wedding businesses for some time - Tori runs Elevate Bridal an elite bridal hair and makeup agency and Vicky runs Victoria Millésime a hair accessories, jewellery and veils brand.

Tori tells the story of how The Boutique & Co came to be: “We met photoshoot when a mutual connection recommended me to do the hair and makeup for the latest Victoria Millésime collection, I don’t really remember speaking to Vicky much that day - probably because I’m the louder one so I was probably just chatting at everyone whether they wanted to hear my stories or not! Vicky’s much calmer than me, she was probably sat there thinking oh please do shut up! We met up a few months after the shoot to discuss ways we could work together, Vicky had just left her job in the city to go full time with Victoria Millésime and finding that hair accessories look so much better when you try them on in your actual wedding hair she was reaching out to hair and makeup artists to work together. During our coffee I made what I thought was an off the cuff comment about how I wanted to find a space to host trials in - I was exhausted from running the agency and running around London doing all my own trials plus people’s houses (particularly in London) often lacked good space or light for trials making the experience less amazing than I felt it should be. Vicky mentioned she was definitely considering some form of retail space as people were often put off coming to her (albeit beautiful!) house for bespoke accessories consultations. We differ here in our story because Vicky claims I sent the first message but I know she did! She text me that evening saying she definitely thought we’d make a great partnership if I was interested (lol, it’s like a first date!) I replied immediately (I never have been able to play it cool!) suggesting we look at these two available retail units I’d found. Well on the 4th time we met we viewed our lovely shop on Wandsworth Bridge Road in Fulham, walked up the road and sat in a coffee shop with a notebook, named our new business and agreed to sign a very long, legally binding document to be partners for the next 10 years (at least!) Shotgun wedding if ever you’ve heard of one! Thankfully, despite some early stumbling blocks (like Vicky not even knowing my age when trying to explain to her husband who she was going into business with!) we have gotten to know each other, respect and love each other over the last few years. I now have the honour of being Godmother to Vicky’s youngest little girl - she actually asked me while rain was pouring through the roof of the shop and I was having a mini meltdown! We’ve been through quite a lot together... The shop has grown and developed too, we now not only offer hair and makeup services and hair accessories but a huge range of wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses - in fact we’re widely (according to google) regarded as one of the best bridesmaids dress shops in London - so we’re pretty proud of that! We’re still here hands on running the business though our team has grown just like our family, we ensure everyone we employ embodies the qualities of empathy, warmth and a genuine interest in your wedding day. We’re here to help your dreams come true not just sell you any old thing. We really to get to know each of our brides, bridesmaids or customers and that will always stay true even while everything grows around us.”
