On National Holocaust Memorial Day, we pause to remember, reflect and honour lives shaped by unimaginable loss, and by extraordinary resilience.
It therefore feels fitting to look back at the annual reunion gala dinner and celebration hosted by the '45 Aid Society, which last year marked its 80th anniversary and which Sound Division was once again privileged to support by delivering the audiovisual production at the Royal Lancaster London Hotel in May 2025.
The gala dinner brings together and celebrates survivors, their families and descendants from across the world. Marking the 80th anniversary, the number of survivors able to attend in person was understandably small, alongside notable guests including the Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper , who delivered the keynote address, Angela Cohen MBE, chair of the ’45 Aid Society, who delivered the welcoming speech and introductions, broadcaster Rob Rinder MBE, who also co-compèred the evening, tv presenter Susanna Reid, and UK Holocaust Memorial Foundation co-chairs The Rt Hon Ed Balls and The Rt Hon. the Lord Eric Pickles.
Founded by the late holocaust survivor and British Olympian Sir Ben Helfgott, the ’45 aid society continues his vision, to support survivors, honour their legacy and ensure that the lessons of the Holocaust are never forgotten.
Our primary role was to deliver the full audiovisual and production support for the event, including staging and backdrop, a d&b audiotechnik flown pa system, lighting, led wall and screens, and filming. All elements were delivered with care, sensitivity and discretion, helping ensure interviews and stories could be heard, memories shared and this moment of remembrance delivered with the dignity it deserves.
