I couldn’t be more proud of the brilliant work by who created this installation
The RHS Shows Team approached lots of Colleges, asking if they would like to take part in the show - to create an Installation within a 4m x 4m x 4m space - and with an RHS grant to fund flowers, materials, transport and accommodation.
The exhibit was not to be judged but was intended to provide experience of planning, designing and creating a large-scale floral feature within the iconic setting of
The poor take up in applications was really disappointing, however those who did respond created very individual designs and as RHS Ambassador for Floristry & Floral Art I was asked to help in the selection. I offered to mentor the successful College as working at scale and within Chelsea can be daunting.
The floristry students were SO excited and inspired and inspiring and led by the indefatigable soon many other college students were involved in construction of the assorted mechanics needed. Flowers were sourced from a local Flower Farmer Grower and a wonderful weaver of willow was invited to create the spectacular spheres.
A group of students lead by the brilliant Jade headed to Chelsea where they worked long hard diligent hours and created an instillation filled with colour and joy, and in the process the students had an experience they will never forget.
