The Electric Car: What else will it change?
Tues 17th – Thurs 19th Oct 2017, 08:15–10:00
London Transport Museum
The economy will go through several threats as a result of the shift to electric cars from fossil fuel cars & will be cemented by new laws & government targets.
- Electric cars need less servicing, & in the future perhaps will not be owned by individuals.
- The increase in autonomous driving & the shared economy will have a big effect on car ownership.
- The air pollution we face today is not going away.
- The climate change we face today is not going away.
- An effort across all modes of powered transport to reduce & eliminate pollution is needed.
- Is a ban on petrol & diesel cars in 2040 ambitious enough?
To discuss these issues, there will be presentations from industry speakers followed by a panel session including Q&A.
Day 1 & 2 will be chaired by Robert Llewellyn, British actor, presenter & writer. Robert is perhaps best known for his role as Kryten in hit BBC comedy Red Dwarf & as co-presenter of Channel 4’s Scrapheap Challenge, but has more recently forged a strong position for himself as an automotive journalist. Robert has become an expert on green cars – in particular electric cars, launching EV web series Fully Charged in 2010.
Other speakers include:
• Marcus Stewart, Head of Energy Insights, National Grid
• Hamish Phillips, Corporate Sales Manager UK,Tesla
• Martin Bax, Acting Head of EV, BP
