Join the Women For Oncology UK Spring Webinar on May 14th 2025 at 6.30pm-8.00pm, featuring two powerful talks by the incredible Dr Sandi Dheensa and Professor Margaret Watson.

Enhancing the cancer workforce response to domestic abuse - Dr Sandi Dheensa
Dr Sandi Dheensa, who is an applied health researcher with a broad background in psychology based in BRIGHT (Bristol Research on the Intersection of Gender, Health and Trauma), Bristol Medical School, University of Bristol, UK. Her primary research interest is developing and evaluating healthcare and public health responses to domestic abuse and sexual violence. She has a particular interest in the intersection of gender-based violence and other disadvantages or vulnerabilities. She works on projects with survivors and perpetrators and has recently expanded her work to include trauma-informed approaches to healthcare.

Women in Academia and Beyond: Achieving Our Potential: Professor Margaret (Mags) C. Watson
Professor Margaret Watson is a health services researcher and a registered pharmacist. She is a Professor of Health Services Research (HSR) and Pharmacy Practice (0.5wte) in the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, University Of Strathclyde, Scotland. She is also an Honorary Professor with the University of Bath. Her academic career spans over 30 years and has focused upon the safe and effective use of medicines and effective professional practice. Her research includes the synthesis of evidence and its implementation into practice, policy and education. She is the recipient of Fellowships from the Medical Research Council, Leverhulme Foundation and Health Foundation. Mags has served on a range of national research funding committees, has over 120 peer-reviewed publications, and she is a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

In 2019, she established her own consultancy business, Watson Research and Training Limited (https://watsonresearchandtraining.co.uk/). She is a qualified coach and mentor and delivers a range of services that add value to research and individuals involved in academia and healthcare. In 2024, she published her self-help book, Women in Academia: Achieving Our Potential (https://troubador.co.uk/bookshop/self-help/women-in-academia) to promote effective professional practice and raise awareness of gender asymmetry in this sector.
