Last weekend was a lovely reminder that, as a business owner, sometimes you have to give yourself permission to slow down. The last few months have been incredibly busy, and the last couple of weeks have naturally been a little quieter with the school summer holidays in full swing. It’s easy to feel guilty in those quieter moments, as though you should always be doing more, but actually, maybe that’s exactly when you’re meant to pause.
Being ambitious and building a business is a huge part of my life, but it can’t be my whole life. There’s a constant juggle between growing, scaling, creating and chasing the next thing, while also remembering to enjoy weekends, see friends and simply have a life outside of work. I’m learning that the quieter periods are just as important as the busy ones.
So last Saturday, I headed to one of my favourite local pubs, The Old Paper Mill in Apsley, for their annual Duck Day 🦆. A couple of £4 ducks bought, all in aid of charity, and an afternoon spent watching hundreds of little plastic ducks cruise down the canal. It was fab to be part of the community, enjoy a Saturday and remind myself that there’s more to life than the next booking. Sometimes, you just need to slow down and enjoy the journey. 🩵
