BISCOCHO

BISCOCHO Biscocho Delights produces a variety of goodies, both savoury and sweet, and is always thinking of new and exciting recipes to try.

From supper clubs and fiestas to market stalls and special occasions, there is nothing that we will not try. Founded in 2012 by Charlotte Bradford and Poppy Sketchley after a pea risotto, Biscocho Delights started out as way of satisfying the duo’s passion for food and cooking and entertaining friends. It has since grown into a potential business idea and has big plans for the future. Please click

The Biscocho part of Biscocho Delights comes from the Spanish word ‘Bizcocho’ which refers to a variety of scrumptious baked goods, from buttery pastries to flavoured sponge cakes. A Biscocho is part of a staple breakfast, along with a café con leche, in Spain and other Spanish speaking countries like Argentina, Mexico, Costa Rica and the Philippines. In Costa Rica, for example, Bizcochos are mostly made from dough with spices and/or cheese and are eaten as a snack, while in the Philippines they refer to dough bread topped with sugar and butter. Bizcochos can be filled with all sorts of things, both sweet and savoury, including: cream, chocolate, angel hair, custard, fruits, cheese, ham, salami or sobrassada (a spicy, paprika-filled sausage originating from Mallorca that is a favourite of ours – I recommend you try it for yourself but do be warned the colour can be a little off-putting).
