Wrap up for a windy day on Streatham Common - perfect for kites! 🪁🇵🇸

Repost from

🪁 Families’ Kite Flying Picnic for Palestine 🪁

Parents for Palestine and invite South London families — and beyond — to join us at Streatham Common Kite Day to fly kites for Palestine and make Palestine visible in public spaces.

📍 Streatham Common
🗓 Sunday 10 May
⏰ 11am–2pm

Join us with your family, friends, and little ones for an afternoon of community, solidarity, and joy. Bring your own kite if you can, along with snacks, food, and a blanket to sit on.

Together we’ll:
🪁 Fly and decorate kites
🎨 Make small kites with children
🌿 Enjoy henna and Tatreez
💃 Dance Dabkeh
📣 Chant together in solidarity
🤝 Meet other local families and learn more about the activities organised by Parents for Palestine and West Norwood for Palestine

Come spend the afternoon with our community. Look out for the Palestinian flags and kufiyas.

Everyone is welcome 🇵🇸

This has been an absolutely epic time to be involved in local politics and be in community with such huge-hearted people wanting to honour their neighbourhoods and strive for equity, love and change.

There were only 4 Green Councillors on Lambeth Council before this election day and now we have 29 absolute beauties! Everyone has worked so intentionally and moved with respect and compassion. The Labour propaganda was pretty disgusting tbh.

Couldn’t be prouder that 97% of the Lambeth Green Councillors elected signed the Pledge for Palestine to uphold the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and divest our council finances, including local government pension schemes, from Israeli companies & interests.

Only the start 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

Repost from

this has been such a ride for everyone involved

all those hours doorknocking, leafleting, conversing, messaging, organising, mobilising, social media-ing

we see you and hear you: the Candidates genuinely caring about Lambeth, committing to our neighbourhoods, our part in national politics and all the way over in Palestine

the hope is real and it will carry on

whatever any results are just THANK YOU from so many of us 💚🩷

Palestine is not a ‘niche issue’. It speaks to who I am, you are, who we all are.

Shaban al Dalu was martyred in the tent fire of October 2024, connected to his drip as he tried to heal from injury, reaching his hand for escape, for help, for love, for us all to stop every part we play in the genocide of the Palestinian people and their land by Israel and its enablers, including the UK.

We must remember his words:

“Integrate Palestine into your daily routine.

Don’t let it become a distant memory.

Even amidst your everyday life - work, meals, laughter, family - make Palestine a part of your conversations and actions.

Achieving justice requires continuous effort and patience.

Keep advocating, sharing, boycotting, and pressuring governments.

Every action matters.

The key is to persist and never relent.”

We will persist. Until Palestine is free 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

Loads of boroughs across the country have a Vote Palestine crew, check yours out too! Lambeth Council needs to change and will be letting us know the candidates in our local elections who have a conscience and have signed ’s Candidate Pledge for Palestine ❤️

I’ll be voting with Palestine in my head and heart. If you can not only ignore, but enable funding and vote for or abstain from voting against, a genocide, you’re not my people and I want you nowhere near decision-making about our local community thanks byeeeee

✍️ Have you signed the People’s Pledge for Palestine? Head to our bio or to

🗳️ Vote Palestine is a national grassroots campaign centering Palestine and rejecting genocide in the 2026 local elections.

✍️ We are campaigning for local councillor candidates to sign the Candidate Pledge for Palestine and stand against genocide and ethnic cleansing.

🇵🇸 This is supported by the People’s Pledge for Palestine. By signing the People’s Pledge, voters commit to only consider candidates who have taken the Candidate Pledge.

✊ This shows candidates – clearly and publicly – that voters are paying attention and will not support those who enable or excuse the genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.

📣 We are building people power to call on local candidates across the country to publicly commit to our demands.

Our final slide: why are the bombs and drones that Lambeth Council and our pensions are enabling falling on their beaches, on their bodies?

Voting to stop this - to be honest about Lambeth Council’s complicit role in genocide and ultimately by pledging to take action to divest from Israeli companies - means voting for Councillors that have signed the Candidate Pledge for Palestine. This is a vote for change, humanity and hope.

In Lambeth, Croydon, Haringey, Hackney, Islington, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, everywhere ✊🇵🇸

We are not affiliated with or endorsing one political party or specific candidates, we are sharing options for you if Palestine matters to you at the ballot box and beyond ❤️

every poem we read and share
each song we hear and hum
the videos we weep and cheer over
those voices of boycott, Filton, za’atar
Palestine doesn’t just stay alive
the land blooms on our breath

i don’t want conversations without that bloom

2nd slide: Shaban’s words are etched on my soul.
Israel tried to reduce him to a hand on a drip reaching for freedom in the horrific tent fire of October 2024. It didn’t work. Shaban al-Dalou is remembered.

Think of Others

As you prepare your breakfast, think of others
(do not forget the pigeon’s food).

As you conduct your wars, think of others
(do not forget those who seek peace).

As you pay your water bill, think of others
(those who are nursed by clouds).

As you return home, to your home, think of others
(do not forget the people of the camps).

As you sleep and count the stars, think of others
(those who have nowhere to sleep).

As you liberate yourself in metaphor, think of others
(those who have lost the right to speak).

As you think of others far away, think of yourself
(say: If only I were a candle in the dark).

Grateful to have this beautiful poem

🎬 A brilliant film about community power & solidarity ✊
🗓️ Sunday 12th April at 4.00pm
📍
🎟️ Tickets are £5.00 and can be found on the Picturehouse’s website and in ’s bio

“Everybody to Kenmure Street is an intense, ground-level, and ultimately joyous account of the standoff with the police and the UK Home Office. [This] film celebrates collective action, looking to the stories that led to that day and the historic events that have shaped this community.”
(Screen Scotland / Sgrìn Alba)

This film won won Sundance’s Special Jury Award “which recognises films that demonstrate exceptional courage and impact in documenting civil resistance around the world”.

🎥 Come along to watch this piece of screen magic - and be part of our post-film discussion on how our own locality can come together to galvanise real change in our local elections; all in the hope that we can create a safer environment for our community. A council enabling the genocide in Palestine is not safe for any of us.

🎦 Producer Ciara Barry, of Glasgow-based production company barry crerar, said: “We are so proud of the film, all its collaborators and its message of peaceful protest and our collective power to be the change that we want to see in the world.”

We hope to see you there on Sunday!
