Five things to consider when hiring any celebrant for your wedding (not just me!)

* They use gendered language as a default - Even if this doesn’t affect you directly, this is a massive flashing beacon as to how inclusive this celebrant really is and an indication on how open minded they might be to new ideas

* They assume one of you will be “given away” - You may be choosing to do this, but the ASSUMPTION that you are shows that they are operating on an outdated framework about what a wedding ‘should’ look like

* They push their opinion on you because they “Know Best” - They absolutely have a wealth of knowledge that they should be sharing with you, but you need to be really certain that you aren’t being influenced into doing something you don’t want

* They aren’t upfront about costs - Hiring a celebrant can potentially eat up a fair whack of your budget, and if they’re not being clear from the start about their fees then how can you possibly make an informed decision?

* They rush you into making a decision about securing the booking - Hiring a celebrant is an incredibly personal decision and you shouldn’t feel rushed (or pushed) into saying ‘yes’

Who is not my ideal client - and why I won’t waste their time.

Anyone who isn’t approaching the planning process with as much zeal as their partner. Respectfully, get in the bin. This is 2026, it’s called being a PARTNER.

Anyone who dismisses the ceremony as “the boring bit”. If you truly think that, then you’re not for me. Save your money and get a registrar.

Anyone who is just going through the motions. Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event - act like it!

Anyone who is offended by a bit of swearing. Yeah, we’re not gonna get on if you’re not okay with frequent f-bombs.

Anyone who wants ‘quiet luxury’. I love a bit of luxury, but I’m more for the chaotic and messy DIYers out there.

Just your little reminder that if you’re planning a wedding you really can do whatever the f**k you want.

Two of my nearly-weds have just cancelled their entire wedding that was due to take place late next year, and are now having a super sweet and super meaningful elopement NEXT MONTH with me and a couple of other suppliers joining along for the ride.

If you were looking for permission to push back and truly do things YOUR way, then let this be it!

Lovers! You have just 2 weeks left to register your opinions on the proposed changes to marriage reform in the UK.

Us independent celebrants need your support so we can be granted the right to legally marry our to-be-weds, and our trans and non-binary siblings need your support so they can be granted the right to use terminology that they ACTUALLY identify with on their wedding day.

Link is in the bio - Chapter 3 Question 6, and Chapter 6 Question 27 are the two most important questions to answer!
