SCRUM Theatre is a charity dedicated to making theatre more equitable and accessible for the next generation of makers and audiences, by prioritising the conditions for artists to make their best work. Our arts centre in Hammersmith is now open for studio hire, performances, high quality pay-what-you-can training, and schools projects. We’re a democratic collective of 9 interdisciplinary artists,

championed by leading UK theatre-makers, including Adrian Lester, Nick Hytner, Lyndsey Turner, and Declan Donnellan.

💭 Redrafting workshop with Beth Flintoff
Monday 27 July, 10am-1pm
Playwright, dramaturg and theatre-maker Beth Flintoff will take you through the process of honing and reworking your script, taking a fresh look at what your play is really about, and giving you tools to get the feedback you really need.

✍️ Five Day Writing Intensive with Tristan Fynn-Aiduenu Monday 26 October - Friday 31 October, 10am-5pm
Led by award-winning director and writer Tristan Fynn-Aiduenu, over five days you'll develop a bold new piece (or crack open an existing one) in response to a speculative world (fantasy, sci-fi, horror). You'll work across devising, structure, character, dramaturgy and world-building in a room full of people who take storytelling as seriously as you do.

⏰ There are only a few tickets left for our next workshop with award-winning playwright and screenwriter Sonali Bhattacharyya!

🎭 How can we create characters who provoke, surprise and inspire? How can we ensure our stories are led by our characters in ways that move and thrill audiences?

This character-writing workshop will draw on examples from Sonali’s own practise and classic works from stage and screen, with writing exercises, games and group discussion.

After the workshop we invite you to join us for Snacks ‘n’ Chats! We’re holding tea for all workshop attendees - a chance to get to know your fellow creatives, skill swap and, most importantly, eat biscuits.

📣 SCRUMthing big has arrived 📣

Fresh Ink: Young Writers Lab is a brand new programme from SCRUM Theatre for young people ready to find their voice, get in the room and make some noise on the page.

Got a young person in your life aged 13–16 who won’t stop telling stories? Good. We’re ready for them!

Over two weeks, 20 young people from across Hammersmith & Fulham will come into the lab to play, write and make something entirely their own, ending in a showcase of brand new work.

They’ll also get:
✏️ Ongoing mentoring and creative support
🎭 Exclusive workshops and ticket offers from London theatres
📝 The chance to continue their journey with our Autumn Writers’ Lab in October
⭐ Plus some VERY special guests - watch this space 👀

It’s completely free. Travel and food subsidies are included.
