Asmodee sent games in the middle of the hottest few weeks London's had in years. Staying in stopped feeling like a compromise and started feeling like the better option.

Genuinely useful when you've got two kids and an unrelenting sun — including one game I've been obsessed with for seven years, which is possibly more about me than the game itself.

One of these got a lot of use on a very different set earlier this year — more on that soon.

I have a small role in The Bombing of Pan Am 103, now on Netflix — a dramatisation of the investigation that followed the Lockerbie bombing.

A difficult story to tell, and an important one. Had a few messages from people who've spotted me in it before I'd even watched it myself.

5th time working with my friend Cara Horgan

It began on a Tic Tac commercial 20 years ago — I played "Man in Lift." Obviously, one of my most challenging roles. 

Then a major Channel 4 series, a shoot in Cape Town, a film in a water tank, and now Marlow Murder Club.

Always great working with your friends.

The trailers before Rivals shoot days. Out of costume, holding sides — which is cool film speak for script pages — and then, an hour later, Tweed Captain Henry Hampshire emerges in a puff of sherry.

The hair takes 45 minutes.
