Pop-up Café @ Good Shepherd Studios.
Mon-Fri 08:00-16:00
Sat & Sun 08:30-15:00
(this is just an interim café until the permanent operator launch in Sept)
Accessible pricing means squash for £1, tea for £1 and filter coffee for £2. Americano is £3, Latte, Flat Whites etc are £3.50. Fruit is also available for a £1 (from Riverford). The idea is that you can come with friends or family, visit a workshop or event and be able to buy snacks and drinks that are relatively low priced without reducing quality.
A few interest things about the pop-up:
· all baked goods are plant based
· the café is worker led, so hours, menu and pricing has all been done in collaboration with the workers and they have a share of profits.
· it’s also paper cup free - so we are running a reusable cup deposit scheme.
New permanent café will be launching in September - watch this space for updates.

***CAFÉ UPDATE***
From tomorrow (TUES) we will have a community café popping up at the studios!
The café space will be open from 08:00 - 16:00 (08:30 - 15:00 on weekends) and will trial an accessible drinks menu…
The new café operator is expected next month, so watch this space - we will share news on that VERY soon!
In the meantime, we will be opening our doors as a worker led pop-up café. We’ve missed you and want to see the space active and buzzing again. So join us for great coffee, tasty baked goods and chilled community vibes. Plus squash for the kids, tea and biscuits for those who fancy a cuppa!
**Also… it will be papercup free!**
We will be running a reusable Ecoffee cup deposit scheme where you can pay a £5 deposit to borrow one of these reusable cups. When you return it, your deposit will be returned. Or keep it and use it in other local cafés. 50p discount if you bring your own cup.
Hope to see you there!!! ;)

THE HEAD OF THE PACK
Wednesday 8th July - 19:30

UK premiere of new restoration!

Belgian cyclist Eddy Merckx is widely considered the greatest racing cycling of all time. The Head of the Pack is the rarely-seen classic that captures him during his peak. Visual poetry, intimate home life and thrillingly up-close race photography combine to make this a gripping portrait of both the man and the sport of tour racing.

SISTER MIDNIGHT
Saturday 11th July - 17:15

Join the Film High Club for a screening of Karan Kandhari’s comedy, Sister Midnight (2024), with an intro and post-film discussion.

Just arrived in Mumbai, living in a tiny shack with paper-thin walls, acerbic Uma and soft-spoken Gopal are trapped in a very new, very awkward arranged marriage. At first, Uma does her best to cope with the heat, her lack of domestic skills, her bumbling spouse and their nosy neighbours, but the nocturnal world of the city changes her. Transformed into a disturbing and ruthless figure, Uma succumbs to her most feral impulses. Blending deadpan humour with surreal edge, the film turns everyday confinement into something wild and unpredictable.

EVERYONE TO KENMURE STREET
Thursday 16th July - 19:00

May 2021: the Home Office selects the first day of Eid al-Fitr to target Scotland’s most diverse community in Pollokshields with dawn raids. Quickly, the residents of Glasgow are in the streets, under immigration vans and unwilling to allow the deportation of their neighbours. Executive produced by Emma Thompson (who speaks the words of those unable to identify themselves on camera), Everybody to Kenmure Street is the documentary story of this heroic mass resistance, told as a patchwork of a community voices.

Let’s talk about the café...

As some of you may have heard, we’ve made the difficult decision to bring the café operator licence for Back to Ours to an end and we want to be open with you about what you can expect to come next.

We know how much BTO & Good Shepherd Studios means to many of you and we want to reassure you that this decision has been carefully considered.

We wish Tim every success with his cafés (including Earls in Cann Hall Park and Earls in Shoreditch). We hope they continue to go from strength to strength.

In essence the Good Shepherd Studios café space is not going anywhere. We love it as much as you and are excited to see it evolve.

It will continue to be:

🎨 A place for you, our wonderful local community, to come and work, rest, eat, drink and create.

🏫 A place to come to before or after activities, events or school pick ups for a caffeine boost or to simply decompress

🌿 A nature-rich place to slow down and listen to the birds

We’re now inviting potential café operators who share our vision for a community café to get in touch.

So, what does that vision look like?

☕ We’d like to continue to offer the space at an affordable licence fee and we’re committed to working with any new operator to pass those savings on to the community

❤️ A commitment to being accessible to everyone in our community

💚 A commitment to being a clean and green space with a goal of becoming zero waste and plastic free

If that sounds like you, we’d love you to get in touch.

And to our community, we’ll be inviting you, in various ways, to help shape what the new café has to offer.

*More to come soon.* 👀
