Big Cheese Jack's made their debut as a writer for 'Cene mag! ✍️ 🏍️🤡

Huge ups to the Folkestone venue, Speedway ( ), its team and the lovely venue lead, Mark bOnEs for allowing me into their space, for sharing their enthusiasm and their story.
Grassroots spaces like these are a colossal labours of love and pivotal to any music scene, and to creative communities in general.
Give Speedway a follow ; go to their shows if you're about 🎟️

It's great to stretch these different creative muscles and explore new mediums in the effort to support grassroots music in Kent.

It's also really exciting to write for a publication like 'Cene (.magazine ), a team who have with a DIY approach, created a publication which has been fundamental in creating a buzz around Kent's homebrewed culture.

🎥✨ Our first film event "the Projection Room" is approaching and we’re kicking things off this week announcing our first collaborators in the lineup:

Founded by Alex Shin, Aum Patel, Harry Reeves, and Ibrahim Kargbo, Amenno is a collective of young filmmakers building the future of cinema from the ground up. With every project and event, their network of artists grows - creating platforms for fresh voices, grassroots storytelling, and new ways of making and sharing film.

That mission is exactly what The Projection Room and Big Cheese, is about: creating a space where filmmakers and film enthusiasts can connect, swap ideas, and celebrate cinema in all its forms. Together, we want to keep the conversation alive long after the credits roll.

🍿 Expect films that spark discussion, stories that stay with you, and yes 2-for-1 boozy slushies, homemade popcorn, and nachos to keep the ideas (and good vibes) flowing.

SESSIONS open mics are made up of two alternating slots:

1) TAKEOVER sets from local Kent-based artists

2) OPEN > STAGE: everyone is invited to use the live sound set up to collaborate in the space, freestyle, show something they're working on, do a short DJ mix-- whatever!!

A PA, monitor, mic & interface will be available to use with overseeing the set up

Please bring your own equipment surplus to what is provided and your own backing tracks, on a stick or just on your laptop.

Recommended equipment to bring:
• Laptop with DAW
• Guitars
• Percussion
• Synths/keyboards
• Anything that makes noise!

| The front half of this event will open up the stage for anyone to use the live sound set up.
Jam something out together, show something you're working on, build a track from scratch live on DAW, do a short DJ mix-- whatever!!
It's a great opportunity to meet other musicians, make cool stuff and get used to the stage |
