The quietest moment at any wedding is when something extraordinary happens.
The room becomes completely still.
Hands find hands.
Eyes gently close.
And a room full of people quietly sharing a heartbeat.
You feel the pulse of the person beside you and become aware of your own.
For just a few beautiful moments nobody is performing.
Nobody is worrying about saying the right thing.
Nobody is thinking about photographs or timelines or what comes next.
There is only breath.
Only connection.
Only the people who have gathered to witness your love.
As your celebrant, I have the privilege of holding that space while the stillness settles, the room breathes as one and beautiful words are softly shared.
It lasts only a few moments.
It can never be repeated in quite the same way.
It’s unique for you and used only at your wedding.
And I’ve never seen anyone leave this moment unchanged.
Perhaps that's why it stays with people long after the flowers have faded and the music has stopped.
Because the best ceremonies aren't performed.
They're felt.

I recognise that funeral poverty is a reality and that many families choose direct cremation for personal or financial reasons. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that choice.

However, one company’s recent advert has quite rightly been found to be misleading.

If you’re considering direct cremation, I urge you to speak to your local funeral director before making a decision. Many independent funeral directors offer direct cremation services. They will explain exactly what is and isn’t included, keep you informed throughout the process, and ensure your loved one is cared for locally by people you can speak to directly.

Direct cremation doesn’t have to mean sacrificing personal care or clear communication. Take the time to ask questions, compare providers, and understand exactly how your loved one will be cared for and how their ashes will be returned.

Families deserve to know who is caring for their loved one and where they are. An informed choice is always the best choice.

Pure Cremation’s advert has been pulled be regulators for claiming an attended funeral service was part of its standard plan

The people who love you have been waiting for this moment too.

The nervous smiles.

The proud parents.

The friend quietly wiping away tears before you've even walked in.

The partner who looks at you and forgets everyone else is in the room.

These are the moments that become memories.

A celebrant-led ceremony doesn't just hold a couple.

It gently holds everyone who has loved, supported and cheered you on to this point.

There's space for the laughter.

For the happy tears.

For the deep breaths before the vows.

For the silence that says more than words ever could.

And for the cheers that follow.

Because a wedding ceremony isn't just the beginning of a marriage.

It's a room full of people witnessing a love story they helped to shape.

Because the best ceremonies aren't performed.

They're felt. 🤍

I've watched hundreds of couples walk into their wedding ceremony.

And every single time, the room changes.

The chatter fades.

Parents reach for each other's hands.

Friends smile through tears.

Children stop fidgeting.

And the person waiting at the front forgets everyone else is there.

So many couples worry about the flowers, the favours, the entertainment or whether every tiny detail will be perfect.

But years later, nobody talks about the chair covers.

They remember how it felt.

They remember the laughter, the tears, the words that were spoken and the people who surrounded them.

The best ceremonies don't just celebrate a couple.

They remind everyone in the room what love feels like.

Because the best ceremonies aren't performed.

They're felt. 🤍

Your guests hold their breath when you read your vows.

Not because they're judging you.

They're quietly willing you on.

They don't care if you stumble over a sentence, forget a word or laugh halfway through.

They're listening for something much more important.

They're listening for you.

So please don't spend weeks trying to write the "perfect" vows or worrying that they won't sound as beautiful as the ones you heard at someone else's wedding.

Nobody else has lived your story.

Nobody else knows the little jokes, the difficult days, the reasons you stayed, or the moments that made you certain.

Your vows aren't a performance.

They're a promise.

And if they come from your heart, they'll be perfect for the only person who truly matters: the one standing opposite you. ❤️

Thank you so much Elizabeth Williams 🙏. What a privilege it was to be there for you 🥰 xx
