We want to share an honest update about the year we have been having up until today, be it public events or private bookings. Last year was our busiest ever. This year to date nine public or private events have been canceled by customers or organisations, resulting in an estimated seven thousand pounds in losses or more in lost income. What made this especially hard is that most of these cancellations were during the summer, normally our busiest season. When we commit to a public event, we hold that date, often turning down other work, so a sudden empty summer weekend has a serious impact. Some of these cancellations came in at less than a weeks notice. Cancellations mean we've already committed to stock, suppliers, and staffing, costs that are difficult or impossible to recover. While we understand unexpected things happen, and are out of peoples control at times. But repeated losses like this aren't sustainable for a small independent business. If this pattern continues, we'll have to reconsider especially how many public events we take on next year or maybe none at all. We genuinely value being part of such a close community and appreciate everyone. It's not a post we wanted to share but we had to sadly. We truly appreciate all the customers that have supported and continue to do so. The journey we have had and continue to have could not have been possible without you all.
