Hot chocolate in a warm welcoming space.

Popped into the Ice Cream Emporium for a lovely hot chocolate on a windy, blustery day in Llandudno 😋😍.

Does your website satisfy your business insurance?

Last week we received communication from our insurers, informing us of consequences of not updating systems, using AI to build a website, and using unsafe third party software to enhance features. 👀

Why would they say that?

If your website contains:

Forms
Fields
Plugins
Logins
Embedded features
Libraries
Booking systems
Payment features
And more...
.you may not be covered if you have not provided the appropriate measures 👎

Websites and their connecting systems require security and regular updates to fulfill your insurance in the event of a breach.

If you are building your own website or have forgotten about your existing site, we can help.

✅️ Patch'ng offers:

Website audits
Apply updates and improvements

This afternoon I attended Wrexham University's Celebration of Excellence event for Student and Graduate Entrepreneurs.

Wrexham University is officially an IOEE Centre of Excellence. Brilliant to be in the presence of founders, students and the Enterprise team!

The speakers and enterprise team were so very inspiring and it was great to be back at the Uni!

Thank you so much Wrexham University for having me!

Have your pets inspired you on your business journey?

Meet Patches, Patch, Patchy, Patchington or Professor Patch, depending on the day (and his mood) 😼.

Patches has been the biggest inspiration in our lives and our business, and continues to keep us company through our long desk days no matter what. After all, he is the BOSS 🫡.

The first and most obvious inspiration is our business name.

Patch = cat name
Patch'ng (pronounced Puh'ching) = the sound of a magical spell cast with a wand, which reflects our performers' technology 📱🪄.

It also represents achievement through the sound of clinking glassses and celebration 🍻🥂.

Our logo?
Inspired by the light and dark sides of Patches' face.
Sharp shape to represent our sharp approach.
The shape of a shard to represent pin pointing and precision.
The dark half face (hidden) represents the secret, mysterious, magical side of our work.

Patches has never failed to provide us with love and joy, including cuddles (and frequent biting 😹) , endless purring and getting in the way at the desk. Constantly eating goes without saying.

How have your pets inspired you?

Everyone can walk through your front door—but can everyone use your website? 🚪💻

You’ve invested in ramps, wide doorways, and accessible facilities for your physical space. But what about your digital storefront?

Web accessibility isn't new, yet it’s constantly treated as an afterthought. Here’s the cold truth: if your site isn't accessible, you are actively turning away paying customers. 📉

Here are 5 critical areas where most business websites fail:

👁️ Colour & Contrast: Can visually impaired users actually read your copy? Over 3 million people in the UK alone are colourblind—not to mention those living with glaucoma or cataracts. Low contrast means lost readers.

🔤 Fonts & Typography: Stylish, decorative fonts might look pretty, but they can be a nightmare for neurodivergent and dyslexic users. If it's hard to read, they will leave.

🏗️ Structure & Logic: Does your page flow naturally? Clean structure ensures users navigating via keyboards or assistive tech don't get trapped in endless loops.

🔊 Screen Reader Compatibility: If a blind user visits your site today, will their screen reader make sense of your menus and layout? Or will it spit out digital noise?

🖼️ Alt Text for Images: Images convey message and meaning. Without descriptive alt text, visually impaired users miss out on vital context (and key sales messaging).

Making your site accessible isn't just the right thing to do—it's smart business. 💡

Want to know where your site stands?

I'm offering a free 5-minute accessibility check for local businesses this week. I'll take a quick look under the hood and send you 3 quick fixes you can make right away. 🔍

Drop your website URL in the comments below (or DM me directly), and I'll send over your mini-audit! 👇 (Only doing 5 this week while time permits!)

Meet Steve and Linda Bassett (in blue), the founders of REST- Repatriation Services Trust 🙌🏻, our chosen charity for 2026/27.

Last weekend, they travelled up from South Wales to climb Yr Wyddfa, in memory of their son, Tom 🌹🌹🌹.

On Sunday 26th, we travelled from Llandudno to Beaumaris to meet these amazing people for coffee at Jolly’s Café (very nice place! 😋), to spend time with them and talk about the amazing work they do.

Did you know that since registering REST in 2018, they have helped 36 families bring their loved ones back to the UK after they suffered an unexpected tragic loss whilst abroad?

That is what REST do – provide “Support to bring your loved ones home”.

When someone passes away far from home, a family’s deepest grief is instantly tangled in foreign laws, distance, and unbearable costs. REST steps into that heart-wrenching space to clear the path home—giving families the peace, dignity, and closure they desperately need when their world has turned upside down.

Why support them? 🤔 Well… we know this experience and tell you that we don’t know what our family would have done without them during the most difficult time.

💭 ❔How does this align with our values as a business ? We care. We care about people and circumstances. We are real people with real life experiences and believe that doing good in the world is important 💯, especially when it comes to what is hugely important in people’s lives – no matter what 👍🏻.

After meeting them, we learned that the work they do is quite spectacular 🎆💖, and their goals don’t stop here – they have set some amazing and challenging goals to achieve over the coming months, which we can’t wait to hear about 🎯. We wish them the best of luck 😊.

If you are looking for a charity to support, then these are your people!

You can find out more about REST, donate to, or contact them via:
