We are all set to indulge your horticultural senses next month at our Late Summer Fair.
The mansion will be full of Orchids thanks to the Orchid Study Group’s Orchid Festival. The Cloister Garden will be full of plants and produce stalls. There will be talks and demonstrations on horticultural topics as well as workshops on flower arranging with local talented florist Nia Pinc and watercolour painting demonstrations of summer flowers with Andrew Douglas-Forbes.
The weekend-long event, which takes place on 6 & 7 September 2025, will also have stalls selling locally produced food and drink, hot food on-the-go and entertainment throughout the weekend will be provided by a variety of music artists from around west Wales.
The Welsh Orchid Festival, organised by the Orchid Study Group, will completely take over the mansion and is an opportunity to learn about rare species and popular hybrid orchids. Visitors will also be able to purchase orchids, carnivorous plants, orchid companion plants and botanical paintings.
Helen Scutt, Aberglasney Gardens’ Director, said, “We hope visitors to Aberglasney will enjoy this extra special experience in September. "
The Fair will be open each day from 10am until 5pm. Entrance to the event will be £10 per person with no separate entrance fee to the Gardens. Aberglasney members are admitted to the event free of charge as part of their membership package. Parking will be at the Gardens with additional parking available in adjoining fields.
Amongst those appearing on the music main stage on the North Lawn on Saturday will be Saxy Brass, the Rock Choir and J4. On the Sunday the acts include Carmarthen Ukuleles, Nia Tyler, a recent semi-finalist on S4C’s Y Llais, and No Mean Biscuit will keep visitors entertained.
The Gardens will be a foodie paradise with stalls featuring some of the best west Wales has to offer including spirits, beer, donuts and deli delights,. There will also be on-the-go hot food stalls and Aberglasney’s very own Tearooms.
