Meet Johnny, our Assistant Manager & Head Chef, and one of the driving forces behind The Plough. 👨🍳
Johnny joined us back in 2016 and over the last 10 years, has become a huge part of The Plough and its journey.
Originally from Romania, Johnny loves being able to get creative with food while embracing Welsh culture and making the most of the fantastic local produce we have right here on our doorstep.
As Head Chef, there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes. Johnny is constantly working on new ideas, developing dishes and finding inspiration for our menus and weekly specials. From seasonal ingredients and local produce to flavours and dishes he discovers on his travels, there’s always something inspiring what comes out of The Plough kitchen.
And it’s not just our restaurant menus! Johnny plays a huge part in creating the food for so many of the occasions we host here at The Plough from our popular buffets, afternoon teas and tribute nights to dinners and special events.
Weddings are another big part of Johnny’s role. He creates bespoke wedding menus, bringing their ideas to life whether that’s the wedding breakfast, evening food or something a little different.
When he’s not at The Plough, you’ll find Johnny travelling and discovering new foods and cultures, mountain biking or indulging his love of cars. And we’re pretty sure plenty of that travelling provides inspiration for the kitchen too!
After a decade with us, Johnny really is part of the engine that keeps The Plough moving. His creativity, experience and passion have helped shape what we offer today, and we’re very lucky to have him as part of the team.
