As the artistic gymnastics competition comes to a close, what a Commonwealth Games it has been for Team Scotland and for everyone at West Lothian Gymnastics Club.
After an outstanding 4th place finish in the team competition, Team Captain Cameron Lynn went on to qualify for the All Around, Pommel Horse and High Bar finals. He finished an impressive 10th in the All Around before claiming Commonwealth Games bronze on Pommel Horse.
Then came history.
Standing alongside teammate and Commonwealth All Around Champion Reuben Ward, Cameron became part of the first Scottish men’s artistic gymnastics duo ever to share a Commonwealth Games podium, a landmark moment for Scottish gymnastics.
He rounded off an unforgettable Games with a fantastic 5th place finish in the High Bar final.
But medals only tell part of the story.
By the end of the Games, Cameron had become affectionately known as “The Scottish Hype Man.” Whether he was competing, celebrating his teammates or getting the crowd on their feet, he embraced every moment. The pride he showed every time he pulled on the Team Scotland kit, the way he celebrated every Scottish success as if it were his own and the professionalism, humility and joy he displayed made everyone at West Lothian Gymnastics Club incredibly proud.
A special congratulations also goes to our MAG Head Coach, John Campbell, whose dedication, guidance and belief have helped shape this incredible journey. Watching coach and gymnast share the Commonwealth Games stage together has been a truly special moment for everyone at West Lothian Gymnastics Club.
To Cameron, John, Reuben and the entire Team Scotland artistic gymnastics squad, thank you for inspiring the next generation.
