The Pine Lodge, Little Milton

Just a reminder that we have a Fete Meeting at the Pine Lodge tonight at 7.00 pm.

The main purpose is to make sure all of the stall holders know what they need to do in the days leading up to the fete, and discuss logistics for the day itself. Nearer the time, we will need to come up with a site plan.

There is space for more stalls if anyone has any ideas - and are happy to find a willing volunteer to organise/run the stall. More activities for children would be welcome too.

Save the date - Saturday 9th May for Charity Plant Sale at The Pine Lodge in aid of Parkinson’s UK

I would be so grateful for any plants you could spare - splitting a few plants in your garden, want to rehome a houseplant, keen seedling grower with a few spare, extra plant came home with you from garden centre, clearing a border? Happy to repot, add to my “nursery” now or collect nearer the date of the sale.

Tea/coffee, cakes and home produce on sale alongside the plants - so if you could support the fundraising with spare jars of preserves, apple juice or similar or even a glut of rhubarb, I would be so grateful ☺️

On Thursday 11th December, Jayne Abbott will be talking to us about Quirky Christmas traditions. This will be followed by Christmas treats (some made with our own mincemeat!) and mulled wine, plus tea & coffee.

In September the WI were back at the Pine Lodge for a talk on Hedgehogs from author, ecologist & spokesperson for the BHPS, Hugh Warwick. We should all start thinking about how to make our villages more hedgehog friendly, time for more hedgehog doors!
A big thank you to Roz, Adele, Julia and Lisa for helping at the Horticultural show café and all the cake makers and buyers.

On Thursday 9th October, our very own Wendy Newby is running a decoupage shell workshop (learnt on a cruise!). Get your creative juices flowing and create a cute dish. Everyone always welcome, men too!

New Pilates class at the Pine Lodge starting 11 September 1.15pm

In August Tons Together WI went out for our annual day trip, starting with lunch in the Old Red Lion pub in Tetsworth and then a tour of Adwell house gardens (https://www.adwellestate.com). The estate has extensive gardens, and the house & church was used in the recent “Miss Austen” BBC series and various Midsomer Murders. They’re holding a Rare Plant Fair on Sunday 7 September 11am-4pm so another opportunity to look around and buy plants. Plus, that afternoon it’s the GHDHS annual show, 2pm at the Pine Lodge. The WI are running the café – any help and/or cake donations gratefully received.
