7 years ago today I had my last chemo infusion after being diagnosed with stage 3 bowel cancer - not everyone is as lucky as me though so I like to use these milestones to remind everyone to know the signs.

Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer in the UK, but it’s treatable and curable if caught early. That’s why awareness matters. 90% if people diagnosed at stage 1 survive for 5 years or more, compared to about 10% for stage 4. Stage 2 survival is around 85%, while stage 3 survival is approximately 65% for 5 years or more.

Around one in four people are diagnosed with bowel cancer in an emergency, often in A&E

We don’t normally organise weddings, but when a longstanding client asked us to help with their daughter’s wedding, there was no way we could say no to being involved in such a day!

AC Events was proud to once again organise the Saffron Business Forum Annual Sports Lunch, which returned for its ninth year on Friday 15 May at the Supported by Tughans LLP, this year’s event welcomed 620 guests for an afternoon celebrating sport, culture and community.

Hosted by Paul McErlean, the event featured special guest Jimmy Barry-Murphy, one of the most respected and decorated figures in GAA history. Interviewed by Shane Elliott, the Cork legend shared stories and reflections from a remarkable career that included five All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship titles, an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medal and major success as Cork senior hurling manager.

Guests also heard from acclaimed musician, producer and cultural leader Dónal O'Connor, whose work continues to champion Irish traditional music and culture both locally and internationally through

The afternoon concluded with a fantastic musical performance from , bringing another successful Sports Lunch to a close.

Having delivered the event for the past nine years, AC Events is delighted to see the Saffron Business Forum Sports Lunch continue to grow and remain one of the leading celebrations of sport, business and culture in Northern Ireland’s events calendar.

It’s been a seriously busy (and brilliant) week for the AC Events team…

We kicked things off at the , supporting with their first hybrid roadshow event – helping to raise awareness and keep the momentum going in sharing the benefits of employee ownership.

From there, we were back with our friends at , delivering catering for a staff dinner in their offices – always a pleasure to support their team.

And to round off the week, we helped the team at celebrate a very special milestone – their 20th wedding anniversary – with a fantastic celebration in their new offices.

Great day yesterday delivering an incredible event with WiDI ✨

Founded by Sarah Orange (), Gemma Hamilton (BGF), Vicky Dummigan (Davidson McDonnell) and Pam Gillies (HNH), WiDI is creating stronger representation for women across the dealmaking and investment community.

Supported by Danske Bank and hosted by , 160 founders, advisers, investors and finance leaders came together for powerful conversation and connection — with brilliant insights from Paula Kane, Rachel McCausland, Alyson Hogg, Ailbhe Keane () and Ronan Dunne.

AC Events was so excited to be asked by Create to help organise the x Sephora event in Belfast. ✨

Knowing every inch of the space would be photographed, every detail had to be perfect — on point and completely on brand. The venue was integral to the overall design, and Exposed Photography Gallery was the perfect choice, with its clean walls and iconic black-and-white tiles providing a stunning backdrop.

With the Shiny Objects theme in mind, the incredible Rebel Events brought the vision to life, creating a vibrant London-inspired atmosphere. DJ set the tone, while Craft Event Co delivered beautiful canapés to complete the experience.

The event was delivered and managed on the day by the AC Events team — brilliant to be part of such a special collaboration.
