Why I love a 'Sweet Pea'💕
Honestly, I gave a happy florist kind of dance (a little wiggle and giggle) when I found Fiona had add Sweet Peas to my buckets for collection ready for a 'Mum and Daughter Bouquet Experience' with me last week.
As always, I carefully explained the flowers at the workshop and why each one had been chosen. But the Sweet Pea always brings out the oohs, aahs smiles and stories.
It always makes me laugh because I'm trying to explain their merits from a floristry point of view (all serious and technical, of course!). Yet this little flower needs no great introduction or justification. People simply lean in, take a deep breath and suddenly they're sharing memories of grandparents' gardens, childhood summers, or the first Sweet Peas they ever grew themselves.
As a Florist (yes the serious, technical bit), it helps to soften the focal flower, it provides graceful, organic lines, it helps to transition colour between the mass flowers and of course it provides scent and let's not underestimate the power of 'sniffing' a bouquet on arrival.
A fleeting flower, but one that leaves a lasting impression.
