Waiting patiently for dinner 👀

Look out for swallows swooping across the estate with their red throats and long tail streamers. There’s a lot of activity as busy parents perform great aerial acrobatics to collect insects for their very hungry chicks.

Swallows start breeding in May and given the right conditions, they can rear up to three broods per season. It’s a joy to see them doing so well at 🌿

The combination of concept, story and materiality stood out to the judges. Kaixiang’s ability to create something soft from a hard material conveys a beautiful story of shared hope and peace.

🌟 People’s Choice Prize: Niamh Walker - ‘Floral Entity’

🌟 Highly Commended: William Braithwaite - ‘Interchange’

The judging panel included Caroline Bingham, Chief Executive of Lincolnshire Life Magazine; David Waghorne & Kate McGovern, co-curators of Sculpture at Doddington; Preston Fitzgerald, art advisor and curator of contemporary glass and ceramics; and Ian Gill, multi award-winning international metal sculptor and artistic blacksmith.
