The Arbour Beautiful flowers for all occasions

31/08/2026

Probably earlier than you think.

You don’t need to know exactly which flowers you want, how many arrangements you’ll need or even have every detail of the day decided.
But once you have your date and venue, it’s a good time to start talking to florists whose work you love.
We only take on a limited number of weddings, particularly during the busiest months, so popular dates can disappear surprisingly quickly. The details can come later. For now, find a florist whose style you love, have a conversation and see if they feel like the right fit.
You don’t need to have all the answers before you begin.

Planning your wedding? We’d love to hear about it.

A quiet Sunday, a change of scenery, and time to simply breathe. Sometimes rest is not about doing nothing, it is about allowing our minds, bodies and souls to be restored. Today, I’m slowing down and enjoying the gift of being exactly where I am. I hope your Sunday is a blessed one too.

Have you ever noticed how a room changes when you put fresh flowers in it?

Nothing else has moved. The furniture is the same, the washing up may still be waiting 😂 and life is just as busy…
But somehow, a jug of flowers on the kitchen table makes everything feel a little nicer. Perhaps that’s why, even though we spend our working lives surrounded by flowers, we still take them home. They don’t need an occasion. Sometimes they’re simply there to make an ordinary day feel a little more beautiful.
Happy Friday peeps.

It doesn’t mean matching every flower, ribbon and detail perfectly. Often it’s the little threads running through the day that make everything feel connected, a colour repeated here, a particular flower appearing there, the same soft, natural style flowing from your bouquet to the ceremony, the tables and even the cake. That’s something we think about when we design a wedding as a whole.
We want your guests to notice how beautiful everything feels together without necessarily being able to tell you why. It’s those little details that quietly bring the whole story together.

Planning your wedding flowers? Come and talk to us we’d love to hear your ideas.

We hear this from couples all the time.
You’ve saved photographs, chosen your venue, perhaps found your dress and you know you want your wedding to feel romantic, relaxed and beautiful.
But when it comes to the flowers… where do you even start? Which flowers work together? What will be in season? How much do you need? Where will flowers make the most impact? And how do you make everything flow without it all looking too “done”?

That’s where we come in!

You don’t need to arrive knowing the answers. Tell us what you love. Show us the pictures you’ve saved. Tell us how you want your wedding to feel, and then let us bring it all together.
Because choosing your wedding flowers shouldn’t feel like another job on your list. It should be one of the lovely bits.

Planning your wedding? Come and have a chat with us , we’d love to hear what you’re dreaming of.

I’m disappearing for a few days and leaving Elizabeth running the show.
Now, I’d like to say I’ve left her a beautifully organised list, everything is completely under control and she won’t need to contact me once…
But we both know that’s probably not true. 😂 That’s the funny thing about working with your daughter. One minute we’re discussing flowers, the next we’re asking, “Where have you put my scissors?” or “Have you replied to that customer?”, usually followed by, “I thought YOU were doing it!” But underneath all the everyday chaos, I know I can go away and leave the shop in very capable hands, she after all is the boss!
There is, however, one slight concern…
The Christmas stock starts arriving while I’m away. This has happened before. I leave The Arbour in August and come back in September to find Elizabeth has apparently decided summer is over, Christmas has arrived and the entire shop has entered the festive season. I’ll walk through the door to find boxes everywhere, candles out, decorations appearing and Elizabeth looking very pleased with herself. So I’m officially off duty for a few days.

Elizabeth, The Arbour is all yours.

Just try not to have the Christmas tree up before I get back! 😂🎄

Soft blush, warm n**e, ivory and a touch of toffee with plenty of natural greenery, a beautifully romantic palette for this gorgeous bride and her bridesmaids. But looking through these photographs, what I love most isn’t just the flowers. It’s the laughter. The friendships. The arms around one another. The sheer happiness of the day. We spend so much time choosing colours, flowers and all those little details, but ultimately they’re there to become part of something much bigger, the memories.
And these photographs capture that beautifully.

As the summer holidays begin to draw towards a close, I’ve been thinking how much we have to be grateful for.
We’ve had some glorious weather, long, light evenings, time spent outdoors, gardens in bloom and those lovely summer days that somehow seem to make life feel a little easier. And yet, as I look at the garden now, I find myself hoping for rain! The grass is dry, the flowers are thirsty, dried and gasping, and the earth could certainly do with a good soaking.
Isn’t that so often the way? We enjoy the sunshine, yet we need the rain too.
Perhaps life is a little like that. Not every day brings exactly what we would choose, but there is still so much to be thankful for in every season.
So as summer begins to gently turn towards autumn, I’m trying to hold onto one thing above all…

A grateful heart, for the Summer sunshine, for the rain when it comes, and for all the ordinary blessings in between.

Wishing you a peaceful Sunday. 🤍

If you’ve ever wandered up Steep Hill, you’ll know it has plenty of quirks and character, and apparently even the lampposts have decided to join in!
A little wonky, a little uneven and absolutely full of charm. Perhaps that’s what I love about this part of Lincoln. Nothing feels too polished or perfect. There’s history around every corner, beautiful old buildings, independent shops and always something you haven’t noticed before. So if you’re heading up the hill this Saturday, see if you can spot our wonky lampposts… and once you’ve caught your breath, pop in and say hello! 😂🌸
