One minute it’s Monday and we’re planning the week ahead, and the next we’re wondering how it’s Saturday already! October is certainly keeping us busy. Between wedding flowers, everyday bouquets and Christmas preparations creeping into the shop, there’s always something going on.
And of course, being on Steep Hill means we get to enjoy all the comings and goings of Lincoln’s Cathedral Quarter too. So whether you’re out for a wander, visiting the Cathedral or doing a little shopping, do pop in and say hello.

Not ordering for a birthday, an anniversary or a special occasion. Just coming into the shop, having a look at what’s in the buckets and picking out a few stems you really like. You might arrive thinking you’d like pink roses and leave with something completely different! And that’s absolutely fine. We love helping people put together their own little bunch, whether it’s three stems or a beautiful big bouquet.
So if you’re wandering up Steep Hill this weekend, pop in and see what’s looking lovely.

Sometimes someone is going through a difficult time, perhaps they’re unwell, feeling a little low or simply having a tough week, and finding the right words isn’t always easy.
That’s one of the lovely things about flowers. You don’t need to come up with the perfect message.
A simple bunch of flowers arriving at someone’s door can quietly say, “I’m thinking of you, and I care.”
And please don’t worry if you’re not sure what flowers to choose or what to write on the card. That’s not a worry to us at all. Just tell us a little about the person and why you’re sending them, and we’ll happily help you choose something lovely. Because our loved ones, our colleagues or our friends are just so glad we bothered and are touched by your thoughtfulness even before they’ve read the words.

Here’s Elizabeth making sure everything is exactly as it should be,the ceremony table finished, the fireplace creating a beautiful floral focal point, and every stem sitting where we want it. Because flowers can look completely different once they’re in the venue.
Sometimes something needs moving slightly. A flower needs turning. A gap needs filling. Or Elizabeth simply stands looking at it for a while before announcing, (just when I think we’re done and can leave 😂) “It just needs one more thing…” 😂
We never simply put the flowers down and leave. We look at the whole room, check how everything works together and make those final little adjustments.
Then comes that lovely moment when we can stand back and say…

“Right. It’s ready for them.”
