Powerboat GP – RYA British Championship

Entertaining, thrilling and exciting are just some of the words you could use to describe the national and world-class sport of Powerboat Racing. With speeds potentially reaching in excess of 120+mph in the senior classes this action packed, water based form of racing is fast becoming one of the professional and popular forms of competitive powerboating. On

e of the reasons for the sports huge success is the fact that most of it’s disciplines are ‘stock engine classes’, and any tuning or modification to the original engines is strictly forbidden. This keeps the financial running costs to a minimum for teams and ensures that success will come to the most talented and knowledgeable drivers. Governed Nationally by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and Internationally by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), the Powerboat GP series continues to develop with rules introduced and modified to ensure that the discipline is as safe and fair as possible for all involved. Compared to other forms of motorsport the Powerboat GP series has an extremely economical entry level & very affordable running costs. We cater for all ages with our youngest competitors being just 9yrs old and our oldest currently 68 ! With our sights firmly set on the future Powerboat GP are committed to introducing new classes complying with EPA emission standards that are kind to the environment and have a sustainable future. In 2012 we are pleased to announce that over 50% of our competitors are ‘green’. Each year, an annual 6 round RYA British Championship series is held at different venues across the UK and in addition, an international World and Continental Championship series is also held for the various classes.

Going Live in Lithuania

To compliment the superb video coverage produced by Christian Langer from Powerboat Speedworld Production, UIM F2 World Championship race fans from around the globe will be in for a real treat during the opening round of the 2019 Championship.

Edgaras Riabko, the man behind the Grand Prix of Lithuania, will make sure that every angle is covered with a live stream of the Qualifying Sessions from around the 2 Kilometre course on Saturday 29 June. That will be followed a day later with live coverage of the Grand Prix from 14:45 local time, which for the first time will also be streamed live on the Lithuanian National TV Channel LRT.

“Year on year our F2 family grows but we still need to get our message out there” said Riabko. “To become more well known I suggested that we start live streaming from our races. We need to give our sponsors a good opportunity to promote themselves, plus family and friends back home will also appreciate the coverage.”

Riabko will be using a local live streaming company, Zoom TV, who will provide coverage from eight camera positions. Commentary will be in both Lithuanian and English. Riabko has signed up two familiar names to powerboat racing in the shape of Jason Mantripp, who many will remember provided the live commentary when the UIM F2 World Championship last visited Nottingham for the British round of the series. Standing alongside him and feeding him with all the latest gossip will be John Moore, the Editor of Powerboat Racing World. Moore, who only recently discovered that his Great Grandfather was actually Lithuanian said ‘that he was delighted to be heading back to Kaunas and relished the opportunity of catching up with his F2 friends.’

To follow all the action log onto www.Lrt.Lt/mediateka for the Lithuanian commentary and for those after the English commentary you can find that via the UIM F2 website page which has a link to the YouTube channel or alternately via the Powerboat Racing World website.

Qualifying Live Stream scheduled for 26/06/19 starts at 12:40 local Lithuanian time.

The Grand Prix of Lithuania Race Live Stream scheduled 30/06/19 starts at 13:00 local Lithuanian time.
