From curl bar to open bar. How to keep your hair looking full all the way into the night, by Luke at FUSION HAIR CO | LINCOLNSHIRE.

When your hairstylist has one job and the weather has other plans, here are Luke’s top tips for keeping your hair higher than your wedding budget…

🤍 Get an early start and, where possible, have your hair styled before your makeup. This gives your style more time to set before heading into the heat.

🤍 Prep is everything. Use mousse and thickening root spray on towel-dried hair rather than soaking wet hair to build volume from the very beginning.

🤍 Leave your rollers in for as long as possible, even throughout your makeup application, to maximise lift and longevity.

🤍 Backcombing is your best friend! A little teasing at the roots can make all the difference when the temperature rises.

🤍 Stay out of the elements where you can. Heat, humidity and wind are all working against your hairstyle.

🤍 Work with your hair, not against it. If your hair naturally struggles to hold curls, consider an updo rather than wearing it down or half up. Likewise, if you have naturally curly hair, a super-sleek style may be harder to maintain in the heat.

🤍 Keep your hairstylist fuelled with plenty of cold drinks. It might not be scientifically proven to boost volume… but we certainly won’t argue with it! 😉

Lastly, don’t leave it too late to book your favourite hairstylist! Wedding dates fill up fast, so I’d always recommend securing your hair appointment around 12 months in advance to avoid disappointment. And don’t forget to get those all-important hair trials booked in too, they’re the best way to make sure you feel like the very best version of yourself on the day.
