Darcy Clothing Ltd Period menswear and accessories Darcy Clothing Ltd began life as The Vintage Shirt Company in 2004.

The intention then was to supply accurate replicas of mens period shirts and collars for use in plays and costume dramas.Since then we have expanded our range to provide hats, socks, trousers, waistcoats, underwear and a huge variety of general accessories.

Adding to our collection of moleskin suits we now have a limited number of “Dark Brown” items. This has involved using up the last of this old colourway before moving on to “Chocolate Brown” . Admittedly there’s not much difference but we’ve made a small price reduction so as to clear them and avoid future confusion. Otherwise they are perfect stock and lovely jackets. clothing menswear

This shirt may look perfectly normal but for us it’s a radical departure. Our usual work shirts are all half placket so have to be pulled on over the head which was a standard cut up to the early C20th. However, moving with the times, we have produced a small run which button right through in the modern way. They are a great linen/ cotton mix and if popular we might even make them in other colourway. Radical.

Possibly our tiniest but most delightful improvement of all time! We now have worked eyelets on the C18th waistcoat jiggers. These replace the inauthentic metal eyelets. Sadly this only applies to the new Moss colourway but in future they will all be done this way. Joy!!

We could put this down as a recycling project but actually it was the result of a more mundane tidying up day. This length of old Harris Tweed had been hidden away in the store room for decades awaiting its moment of glory. That day has come! Two fabulous jackets made up in our very popular 1920 pattern. Our lovely linen/ cotton jackets are now being made in England. The pattern has been slightly altered to improve the fit. As an experiment we have made this first small batch with shorter sleeves in response to your requests. We still make the standard sleeve length as well.

This Thursday 23rd January we are all off on a long overdue works outing to see Hamilton. It does mean we will be leaving slightly early so some parcels may not get collected by the couriers. We will do our best to get them out but at worst they will be delayed by a day. Many apologies but it only happens once a year and those shirts need to be admired! .

Glad tidings of great joy! We have pyjamas! The old traditional Somax pyjamas makers ceased production this year so we set about creating our own. This takes time, starting with sourcing original colourway as inspiration, having it woven, creating patterns, sampling , rejecting, sampling again, finding a cord supplier, manufacturing then finally they all arrive! It only took 8 months to get here but we think it’s well worth it. Just in time to hunker down in the teeth of Storm Stormy or whatever’s about to hit us. pyjamas nightwear # pyjamas.
